Job Description

The R&D Associate Director plays a pivotal role in planning and managing a R&D department of AOX and Palatants in EMENA. The role includes managing relations with the US teams. This position is a senior member of the leadership team in KN EMEA.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute goals, strategies and tactics in the area of responsibility as part of the broader strategic plan and in concert with Kemin.
  • Lead and manage cross functional programs, often including staff and facilities internationally.
  • Liaise with collaborators including government and private sectors both domestically and internationally.
  • Provide accurate and timely project status/updates within the BU and to other business units.
  • Manage facilities for the KNE. Liaise with other business units in various capacities.
  • Write technical papers, peer reviewed papers for journals and patents. Represent business unit at company level meetings. Present at scientific meetings externally and internally.
  • Manage personnel and resources in EMEA.
  • Mentor team members in accountability for deliverables, estimates, planning, follow up and tracking of various projects.
  • Perform annual performance review of staff, addressing personnel issues and solving problems.
  • Attracts, recruits, and retains new members of the team and provides mentoring to subordinates
  • Works with executives and senior management. Plays several key roles in the successful growth of the team and the company.

Qualifications

  • A PhD in the specific area of expertise required with 10 years of management and leadership experience.
  • A working knowledge and expert familiarity with the science and production of KN products
  • Experience in functional management and planning.
  • Must be able to work very independently and manage multidisciplinary teams.
  • Requires analytical thinking, innovation, self-motivation and a high degree of problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and networking skills.
  • A passion for scientific investigation and creative thinking.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in English, multilingual is a plus.
  • A proficiency in statistical analysis and bioinformatics

TRAVEL: Europe and international travel required. Travel may be as high as 20%.
