As an Associate Quality – Pilot Plant, you will ensure Quality and Food Safety by Design for our Nestlé Nutrition's Global Baby Food Meals & Drinks Category. Your role will involve providing scientific and technical guidance, maintaining knowledge of quality requirements and technologies, and supporting our R&D pilot plant, culinary kitchen, and laboratory quality management/good laboratory practice systems to assure compliance with internal and external requirements.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Pilot Plant Quality Processes

  • Develop, implement and maintain Nestlé Quality programs including HACCP, prerequisite programs & food safety plan in the pilot plant and culinary kitchen
  • Review production records and manage release of test material produced in the pilot plant
  • Ensure project managers and product developers are trained as needed in the Trial Management System and other quality requirements
  • Explore and support implementation of digital solutions and processes to enhance Quality systems and efficiencies to the site
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, provide training for methodology, and test products or ingredients to support innovation

Nestle Management System – Good Laboratory Practices

  • Coordinate the Nestle Management System (NMS) for the site and manage full implementation of the Food Safety Management System (FSMS) for pilot plant & Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) for the site laboratory
  • Representing the pilot plant in internal and external audits of the NMS & GLP processes
  • Participate and provide guidance in audits, gap assessments and technical assistance as requested

Innovation & Renovation

  • Ensure Quality and compliance of all development trials in the pilot plant
  • Support completion of Quality deliverables for pilot plant projects according to local and Nestlé requirements. Support research analysis as needed to help guide ingredient selection, investigation, or recipe optimization

Other Duties

  • Responsible to follow up and uphold all Food Safety, Food Quality, Occupational Safety, Health and Environment policies and procedures as pertains to role

JOB QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience and Knowledge):

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Science (preferred microbiology, chemistry or food science) or equivalent work experience.
  • Quality and Food Safety experience within food manufacturing is preferred
  • Proven track record in delivering results by working with cross-functional teams
  • Experience with implementation for external standards, including ISO 9001 and FSSC 22000 preferred.
  • Knowledge of trial or production systems such as SAP, Labware, etc. preferred
  • Better Process Control School (course)
  • ISO FSSC 22000 Lead auditor training; PCQI certified, HACCP certified preferred
  • Knowledge of Organic Certification requirements preferred
  • Knowledge of Hygienic Design preferred
  • Principles of environmental pathogen monitoring preferred
  • Basic Thermal Process knowledge; General laboratory knowledge and technique
  • Knowledge of FDA, USDA State of MI regulations
