Provides strategic leadership within the Division of Academic Affairs for actions related to large-scale university-level academic initiatives, faculty affairs, and academic program planning. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: working with deans to develop and implement strategic academic program plans; facilitating tenure, promotion, and post-tenure review processes; standardizing faculty processes to align with TAMUS rules and policies; leading various large-scale university-level academic strategic initiatives; and overseeing academic space planning, allocation, and resource needs by site. Reports directly to the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs. Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). Work hours: Monday–Friday; 8 AM–5 PM or as work requirements indicate.
Duties and Responsibilities:
50% Strategic Academic Initiatives Leadership
Leads various large-scale university-level academic strategic initiatives.
Collaborates with academic leadership on the strategic expansion and enhancement of programs across all instructional sites.
20% Faculty Affairs
Facilitates tenure, promotion, and post-tenure review processes.
Standardizes faculty processes to align with TAMUS rules and policies.
Oversees faculty communications and compliance with System requirements.
20% Faculty Grievances and Conflict Resolution
Processes faculty and staff grievances and appeals. Serves as the division's primary point of contact for conflict resolution as delegated by the Provost.
Serves as primary liaison with HR. Maintains confidential records and documentation related to grievance processes.
10% Division Support
Serves in the delegation of authority for the Office of the Provost as assigned.
Contributes to activities and assessment related to the Academic Affairs goals of the institutional Strategic Plan.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Earned doctorate from a regionally accredited university. Must have held a faculty role and earned the rank of full professor with tenure.
Ten years of successful teaching/administrative experience in higher education. Must have held a variety of administrative roles with increasing levels of responsibility.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of strategic planning, academic program development, and faculty processes and procedures.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and meticulous record keeping.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to prioritize. Record of scholarship or creative work.
Ability to lead large groups. Demonstrated ability to work with constituents across campus.
Strong understanding of TAMUS policies and procedures related to faculty affairs.
