Job Description

The Team: The Data Automation & Insights (Data A&I) team at PitchBook (a Morningstar company) harnesses advanced data analytics and engineering techniques to drive strategic decision-making and operational efficiency across the company.

The Role The Associate Project Manager for Data A&I will manage projects that enhance our analytical capabilities and develop robust data infrastructure. This role requires a blend of strong project management skills and a solid understanding of BI and data engineering technologies to oversee the creation and enhancement of data sources, reporting solutions, and data-driven projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the management and execution of projects within the Business Intelligence and Data Engineering domains, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic objectives and Agile methodologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, data scientists, and business analysts, to deliver innovative solutions that enhance data processing and reporting capabilities.
  • Lead Agile ceremonies for projects, driving effective sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and sprint reviews to ensure timely delivery of initiatives.
  • Empower the team by mentoring on best practices in Agile, project management, and data engineering, while also fostering a learning and collaborative culture within the team.
  • Utilize project management tools such as JIRA and Asana to track project progress, manage tasks, and facilitate communication among project stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization to ensure transparency and alignment on project goals, progress, and outcomes.
  • Drive the adoption and optimization of BI and data engineering tools and methodologies, providing training and support to enhance team capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation and manage stakeholder communications to keep all parties informed about project status and decisions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, CAPM) preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of project management experience, ideally in a Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or Data Engineering environment.
  • Proficient in using project management tools like JIRA and Asana to manage complex projects effectively.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and experience in leading Agile teams.
  • Technical proficiency with BI and data engineering tools such as SQL, Python, Tableau, Power BI, and familiarity with data warehousing and ETL processes.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to navigate complex project details with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and a proactive approach in resolving problems and leading change.
