
About the opportunity
The Sydney Medical School is one of the highest-rated education and research institutions in the Asia-Pacific region, improving human health and welfare through education, research, and the provision of healthcare.
The General Practice Clinical School is looking to appoint an Associate Professor in General Practice to engage and collaborate with staff, postgraduate and undergraduate students within the specialty, Sydney Medical School and Faculty of Medicine and Health.
This role provides academic leadership across teaching, research and service, contributing to the national and international standing of the discipline. The successful candidate will lead innovative curriculum development, drive impactful research, and foster a collaborative and high-performing academic environment.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
lead and sustain a nationally or internationally recognised research program
secure research funding and build strategic research collaborations
deliver and oversee high-quality teaching and supervision of students
lead curriculum innovation and program development
provide academic leadership, mentoring and guidance to staff
contribute to governance, service and strategic initiatives within the faculty
About you
Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery/ Doctor of Medicine or equivalent
Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners or equivalent
current APHRA registration
a PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline
an established research profile with national or international recognition
extensive experience in research, including publications and funding success
demonstrated excellence in teaching and curriculum design
experience supervising higher degree research students and mentoring staff
strong track record of academic leadership and contribution to institutional initiatives.
