The Opportunity

Evidence synthesis is only as strong as the methods behind it, and the people willing to push those methods forward. This Associate Professor (Research) role sits within the Australian Living Evidence Collaboration (ALEC) team at the Alfred campus, offering an established researcher the scope to lead programs that directly inform health policy, clinical guidelines, and implementation practice at a national and international level.

What You'll Lead

• Design and lead large-scale, complex research programs with a focus on living evidence synthesis methodologies and their application in clinical practice and health policy contexts
• Secure and hold major competitive research funding, including NHMRC, MRFF, fellowships, and significant government consultancies
• Build and sustain national and international collaborations with methodologists, clinicians, policymakers and those with lived experience to co-design research with genuine reach
• Supervise and develop postdoctoral researchers and PhD candidates through to completion, contributing to the team's research culture and capability

What You Bring

• A strong and sustained publication record with demonstrable influence on practice or policy, commensurate with career opportunity
• Proven success in securing substantial external research funding as a chief or named investigator
• Deep expertise in systematic review methods and recognised experience developing or advancing living evidence synthesis approaches
• A history of co-designing research programs with government, service providers, and community stakeholders, with the political acumen to navigate complex multisite environments
• Experience leading and managing large-scale, multidisciplinary research programs across distributed teams
• A track record of mentoring early-career researchers and supervising higher degree candidates within an evidence synthesis or implementation science context

Your work here won't sit in a journal waiting to be discovered, it will be in active conversation with the policymakers, clinicians, and communities who use it. The team operates at the intersection of methodological rigour and real-world relevance, and this role carries genuine weight in shaping both.
