Job Description

Texas A&M-Victoria seeks two full-time, tenure-track instructors of Clinical or Counseling Psychology at the Assistant Professor and/or Associate Professor levels, with a start date of August 2027.

Qualifications: The Department of Social Science at Texas A&M-Victoria invites applications for tenure-track positions in Clinical or Counseling Psychology. A doctoral degree in Psychology from an APA or CPA accredited clinical or counseling program is required. Candidates with a confirmed doctoral completion date will be considered. The applicant must be license-eligible in Texas. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education and will contribute to a vibrant department that supports multiple majors, including Psychology, History, Political Science, and Criminal Justice. Applicants whose research is in any area of Clinical or Counseling Psychology are encouraged to apply. The Department of Social Science welcomes especially any applicant who examines the interplay of biological processes with psychological, social, and/or behavioral factors. Evidence of an active research agenda and the ability to publish in the field of expertise are expected.

Teaching responsibilities may include in-person introductory and elective undergraduate courses in Psychology, as well as graduate courses in an in-person and blended online format (with synchronous and asynchronous elements) at the master’s level. The role may also require supervising students in their practical experiences, advising, and mentoring students to help them achieve their potential, and serving on university committees as needed.

Responsibilities: The applicant will teach twelve credit hours per semester of both undergraduate and graduate Psychology courses, in-person and online, depending on the expertise of the applicant and departmental needs. The successful applicant is expected to direct student learning opportunities that might include undergraduate and graduate research, or other applied student experiences, and to contribute to the distinctive general education curriculum and the broader academic life on campus. Other expectations include research and scholarly activity, career advising, fostering connections with community organizations, maintaining a strong campus presence, and supporting student recruitment and retention efforts.

Setting: Texas A&M University-Victoria is the most recent addition to the Texas A&M University System. The University was founded in 1973 as part of the University of Houston System and was transferred to the Texas A&M University System during the 89th Texas Legislative Session. A&M-Victoria is the only four-year university in a 100-mile radius and is just 30 miles from the Texas Gulf Coast. The University is

The Jaguars are part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, and the baseball, softball, and soccer teams compete in the Red River Athletic Conference.
