Job Summary:

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is seeking an Assistant Professor of Clinical to join our established outpatient clinic.

The successful candidate will provide evidence-based pharmacologic and psychotherapeutic treatment for substance use disorders, including medication treatment for opioid use disorder and other substance use disorders, while participating in a multidisciplinary academic environment that emphasizes clinical excellence, education, innovation, and scholarly activity.

A unique opportunity exists to participate in the University's emerging Rapid Neurotherapeutics initiative, with potential collaboration in novel and rapid-acting therapeutics, addiction neuroscience, clinical trials, neuromodulation, biomarkers, and other innovative approaches to psychiatric and substance use disorders.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive outpatient psychiatric evaluation and treatment for patients with substance use disorders and co-occurring psychiatric conditions.
• Deliver evidence-based pharmacologic and psychotherapeutic interventions for substance use disorders.
• Provide medication treatment for opioid use disorder and other substance use disorders as clinically appropriate.
• Develop longitudinal, individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients and multidisciplinary care teams.
• Teach and supervise medical students, psychiatry residents, fellows, and other learners.
• Participate in clinical innovation, quality improvement, scholarly activity, and/or clinical research.
• Collaborate with faculty across Psychiatry and other disciplines on addiction and Rapid Neurotherapeutics initiatives.

Qualifications:

Required:

• M.D. degree.
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited Psychiatry residency.
• Psychiatry fellowship training or equivalent specialized clinical experience.
• Board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry.
• Eligibility for medical licensure in Florida.
• Demonstrated expertise in the assessment and treatment of substance use disorders.

Highly Preferred:

• Board certification in Addiction Psychiatry and/or Addiction Medicine.
• Experience in outpatient addiction treatment and medications for opioid use disorder.
• Experience teaching medical students, residents, or fellows.
• Clinical research, clinical trials, or scholarly experience.
• Interest in emerging therapeutics, addiction neuroscience, or Rapid Neurotherapeutics.

Dr. Barbara Coffey Professor and Chair and Dr. Raud Saveanu will mentor and support this position and help the incumbent adjust to the University and faculty status during their first year of employment.
