
SDU Microelectronics, part of the Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering (TEK), University of Southern Denmark (SDU), invites applications for a position as Associate Professor in Integrated Circuits for Edge Computing.
We are looking for a researcher to strengthen our research and teaching in integrated circuits for edge computing, with emphasis on energy-efficient analog and mixed-signal CMOS design, open-source chip design methodologies, and hardware accelerators for edge AI, including neuromorphic and near-sensor processing. The successful candidate is expected to develop an independent research profile, contribute to teaching, and attract external funding. The position is available from October 1, 2026, and the start date will be agreed with the successful candidate.

Teaching Responsibilities
The successful candidate will contribute to research-based teaching and supervision at Bachelor and Master level in areas such as analog and CMOS circuit design, mixed-signal systems and data converters, open-source chip-design flows, digital design and HDLs, and hardware for accelerators, embedded systems, and edge AI, including design laboratories and project-based courses. Thesis supervision and international training courses in edge and open-source chip design are also part of the role.

Employment terms
Appointment as an associate professor is permanent, and the preferred start date is from October 1, 2026.
Employment as an associate professor requires academic qualifications at PhD level as well as scientific and teaching qualifications commensurate with the position as an associate professor. Employment will be in accordance with the collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations for academics in the state including the associated circular on the protocol for the job structure for academic staff at Danish universities and the provisions for associate professor as described therein.
Salary is determined in accordance with the applicable collective agreement and based on objective and gender-neutral criteria, including the content of the position, responsibilities, and qualification requirements.
