Job Description

Join our Pro Bono team to deliver meaningful community outcomes while developing your career in a collaborative, high‑performing environment.

  • Pristine new offices at 360 Queen Street
  • Collaborative team environment
  • 12-month fixed-term role offering strong professional development
  • Focus on working with First Nations communities, mitigating the impact of environmental disasters and reducing domestic and family violence

About the role

If you’re passionate about Pro Bono work and driven to make a meaningful community impact, we’d love to hear from you. Joining our Pro Bono team as an Associate on a 12‑month fixed‑term basis, you’ll work on diverse and impactful matters while contributing to the firm’s broader Pro Bono Impact Strategy. This role offers a valuable opportunity to build strong technical Pro Bono expertise and develop high‑quality client deliverables while working on meaningful community‑focused matters.

This opportunity will allow you to:

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of pro bono matters from commencement to finalisation, with appropriate guidance from Partners.
  • Work closely with vulnerable individuals, community organisations and stakeholders to deliver meaningful legal outcomes.
  • Develop your skills across a broad range of legal areas, including commercial, governance, employment, and community-focused matters.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of the firm’s Pro Bono Program and impact strategy.
  • Collaborate within a high-performing, supportive team while also exercising autonomy and initiative in your work.

About you

You’re a proactive and empathetic legal practitioner with strong technical skills and a genuine commitment to access to justice. You’re confident managing matters end-to-end and bring sound judgment, initiative and professionalism to your work.

We think you’ll thrive in this role if you:

  • Have at least 3+ years’ post-admission experience and hold a current practising certificate.
  • Have strong drafting and legal research skills across a broad range of matter types.
  • Are highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple matters and prioritise effectively.
  • Demonstrate initiative and sound problem-solving skills, particularly in complex or sensitive matters.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally, with excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Engage with clients in a respectful, empathetic and trauma-informed manner, including vulnerable or disadvantaged individuals.
  • Enjoy working both independently and collaboratively within a small, supportive team.
  • Have a genuine interest in Pro Bono work and contributing to community impact initiatives.

It would also be beneficial if you have:

  • Experience working with vulnerable clients or within community, not-for-profit, government or socially focused environments.
  • Exposure to areas such as domestic and family violence, First Nations matters, or community legal services.
  • Strong technological capability and confidence using legal research tools and Microsoft Office applications.
