
Purpose of role
Be a technical leader in Dyson’s Global Compliance & Approvals Team, specializing in Cybersecurity, EMC and Radio compliances for IoT connected products. This role provides deep subject matter leadership, drives global cybersecurity certification strategy, mentors engineering teams, and ensures products meet worldwide regulatory requirements across the full product lifecycle. Your work will directly influence how quickly and confidently our products reach over 90 countries.
Core responsibilities and accountabilities include:
Define global compliance and market access strategies for EMC, RF, and cybersecurity
Direct certification efforts for markets including FCC, CE/RED, ISED, SIRIM, SRRC, MIC, MSIP, etc.
Ensure that the knowledge on technical requirements and standards within their own disciplines, as applicable to Dyson products and target markets, is obtained, evaluated and maintained
Ensure that the compliance requirements within their own projects and disciplines are verified as correct and accurate, using the methods agreed within the Team
Feed into the process of making available such information in a timely manner and agreed format to the other groups of the team is appropriate, robust and flexible
Support the goals of the PD Team in collaboration with the senior members of the team
Understand and manage the risks associated with product compliance or approvals
Be able to represent the C&A Team within Dyson and may represent Dyson externally
May have a direct and decisive influence in international standards making activities within own disciplines
Identify and/or evaluate areas for improvement in the Project Delivery activities
May have or be developing an understanding of quality systems and assurance
Mentor Team members that require development to and within the senior and Lead Regulatory Specialist roles
Own/contribute to Team/department level initiatives & change projects
May take on a technical lead in their specialist area
Contribute to team recruitment activity
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent
8–12+ years of experience in EMC/RF compliance, IoT certification, or product approvals
Strong knowledge of Cybersecurity standards (ETSI EN18031, ETSI EN 303645, Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure, etc.), EMC standards, radio regulations, and IoT wireless technologies
Demonstrated ability to lead projects and manage certification workflows
Experience with multi-radio IoT devices
Pre-compliance and failure analysis skills
Skills
Excellent knowledge of regulatory and technical standards principles
Excellent knowledge and understanding of relevant technical disciplines
In-depth understanding of the C&A process for the main Dyson markets
Extensive understanding of different avenues of intelligence gathering and intelligence services providers and ability at merging them to provide a comprehensive compliance strategy
Relevant experience of R&D development in a range of product categories
Proven ability to communicate unambiguous regulatory concepts to the global C&A Team, global R&D and the broader business
Have advanced ability of interpreting most compliance and approval requirements, in order to support the PD team at steering projects within the C&A Team and the wider business
Have in-depth understanding of regulations and standards developments
Ability to plan, prioritise and co-ordinate with work of others
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
Able and confident at influencing and motivating others
Ability to work at all levels and to share knowledge
