Job Description

The Tax Processor 1 role is a foundational position within our Tax Processing function, responsible for executing tax processing activities that enable accurate and timely tax compliance for our customers. This role supports the delivery of payroll tax filing, reconciliation, notice resolution, and compliance operations that serve millions of customers across our platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Execute assigned tax processing tasks including payroll tax filings, reconciliations, and payment submissions under supervision
  • Deliver accurate resolution of routine tax notices and penalties by following documented procedures and knowledge-base guidance, escalating anything outside scripted scenarios
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual tax compliance activities by reviewing records and verifying data accuracy
  • Contribute to customer service excellence by responding to basic tax-related inquiries from internal teams and external customers
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of tax forms and amendments according to federal, state, and local requirements
  • Participate in quality assurance processes by identifying discrepancies and flagging issues for escalation
  • Maintain organized documentation of tax transactions, filings, and correspondence in compliance with retention policies
  • Collaborate with team members to support cross-functional tax processing workflows and meet operational deadlines

Qualifications

  • 0–1 years of relevant experience in payroll operations, payroll tax processing, accounting, or a related field
  • Bachelor's degree, professional certification, or equivalent domain experience
  • Basic knowledge of tax regulations, compliance requirements, and government filing systems
  • Strong attention to detail with demonstrated ability to work accurately in a high-volume environment
  • Proficiency with computer systems, spreadsheets, and financial software applications
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with a customer service orientation
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and learn new processes quickly
  • Willingness to learn and resolve routine tax issues under guidance, building toward independent judgment
