
The Payment Operations Associate is responsible for ensuring payments and term deposit transactions are processed accurately and within required timeframes. The role completes daily reconciliations, identifies and investigates outstanding items, and ensures breaks are cleared promptly. It also supports the processing and settlement of Global Financial Markets (GFM) transactions in accordance with established procedures, controls, and cut-off times.
· Process business-as-usual payment and term deposit transactions as maker, ensuring instructions are complete, properly authorised and accurately entered for checker review.
· Support the processing and settlement of GFM transactions in accordance with documented procedures and agreed cut-off times.
· Complete assigned reconciliations, control checklists and transaction monitoring accurately and within agreed service levels.
· Identify and promptly escalate transaction exceptions, outstanding items, operational incidents and potential control issues to senior Operations staff.
· Maintain complete and accurate supporting records in accordance with internal policies, local regulatory obligations and audit requirements.
· Assist with user acceptance testing, projects, system enhancements and Head Office initiatives affecting Cash and GFM Operations.
· Contribute to team knowledge sharing and continuous improvement while consistently following approved procedures and controls.
· 1–3 years’ hands-on experience in payment operations, ideally within financial services.
· Working knowledge of domestic and international payment processing, including SWIFT MT and MX messages, Direct Entry and BPAY.
· Experience operating within maker-checker controls, payment cut-off times, reconciliation processes and escalation protocols.
· Knowledge of GFM or treasury products and settlement processes (including system knowledge in RITS, Austraclear or Murex) desirable.
· Understanding of operational risk, AML/CTF, sanctions controls and IFTI reporting obligations.
· Strong attention to detail, accuracy and time management, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a controlled, deadline-driven environment.
Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with Operations, GFM and other internal stakeholders.
