The Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education at The University of Texas at Austin seeks a faculty member at the associate professor or full professor level whose scholarship advances Learning Technologies. Although the primary appointment falls within the Learning Technologies program area in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, the successful candidate will have the ability to lead college-wide initiatives related to Learning Technologies. A secondary appointment in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Education, Special Education, Educational Psychology, or Educational Leadership and Policy will also be considered.
The successful candidate will have a strong record of research focusing on the applications, implications, and innovations of Learning Technologies in EC–12, higher education, professional learning, or informal contexts. Such scholarship may include, but is not limited to, studies of generative AI in teaching and learning; learning analytics and educational data science; human-AI interaction; the design of AI- and technology-enriched learning environments; technology-supported curriculum design and assessment; technology-rich teacher education and professional learning; and accessible, culturally responsive, and community-engaged learning technologies. We welcome scholarship that advances educational innovations while critically examining the pedagogical, ethical, social, cultural, and policy implications of AI and emerging technologies.
We especially welcome applicants whose work reimagines the future of education through responsible uses of AI and digital technologies while remaining attentive to the diverse contexts in which teaching and learning occur. The successful candidate will have a record of securing external grants to support a research program with meaningful impact.
The successful candidate will teach and mentor undergraduate students and graduate students. In Learning Technologies, a graduate program, they may teach courses in areas such as instructional design, learning theory, research methods, design-based research, online and blended learning, educational data and AI, technology-supported curriculum and instruction, and teacher education. The successful candidate will also show interest in participating in existing, or creating new, interdisciplinary collaborations that explore innovative and responsible uses of AI and Learning Technologies.
