About the Role
An exciting opportunity has become available at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne, operating theatres as Associate Nurse Unit Manager for Neuro and Plastics surgery to job share with existing ANUM. The position requires one day a week, which has the potential to convert into a full time, permanent role in the future.

Classifications for this position will range between YW11 - YW12($106,834.00-$110,432.10 per annum pro rata).

The Associate Nurse Unit Manager will:

  • Have full understanding of ACORN and Infection control standards.
  • Will apply evidence based practice to ensure standardised practice across all nursing staff rotating through Neuro and Plastics speciality.
  • Lead and direct nursing staff to ensure a high standard of patient care is delivered in accordance with the Values and Heath Care Philosophy of the Sisters of Charity
  • Act as a clinical role model by providing the highest standard of direct patient care
  • Encourage and facilitate staff professional development
  • Actively participate in ACORN and NSQHS audits and implement changes to further enhance nursing practices.
  • Ensure incidents are accurately documented and investigated at the time of the incident and the Nurse Unit Manager is informed
  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of Evidence based practice in line with ACORN standards as applicable to both Neuro and plastics surgery.
  • The ANUM in liaison with the NUM and other appropriate health professionals will assist in achieving agreed activity targets to reach St. Vincent’s annual targets

    Your Contribution
  • Bachelor of Nursing
  • Post graduate certificate in Peri-operative nursing,
  • Minimum five-year experience in Peri-operative setting
  • Good understanding of ACORN standards and evidence-based practice
  • Willing to obtain a National Criminal History Check
  • Full AHPRA registration

About Operating Theatres at SVHM

We have 12 operating theatres, covering specialties: Cardiac, Vascular, ENT, Plastics, Neuro, General, Urology, Robotics, Orthopedic, Maxillo-Facial, Breast and Endocrine, in addition to 18 bed PACU and Holding Bay.

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.
