Job Description

Hachette Book Group is seeking an experienced Associate National/National Account Manager to join our dynamic Online Retail Sales team. We’re looking for a customer centric professional with a proven ability to build strong relationships with both external accounts and internal stakeholders, and who thrives in a fast paced, collaborative environment.
 
In this role, you will be responsible for selling and marketing Hachette’s eBooks and print books to Amazon.com. The ideal candidate brings strong communication and presentation skills, commercial acumen, and the ability to analyze market trends to identify sales opportunities. Success in this position requires excellent multitasking, problem solving abilities, and a sharp eye for detail. 
 
The position is based out of our NYC office on a hybrid schedule. Please note our current hybrid model is 3 days in-office, 2 days working from home.  Please apply with a cover letter and resume.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and execute strategies to grow sales and profitability for Hachette’s imprints on Amazon.com
  • Optimize product listings to maximize visibility, conversion, and sales; advise marketing and publishing teams on online retail best practices
  • Recommend, plan, and coordinate Amazon promotions, including advertising campaigns and book deal opportunities
  • Prepare and submit monthly editorial recommendations and seasonal title presentations
  • Monitor and troubleshoot catalog integrity, product availability, and partner compliance across print and digital formats
  • Serve as a key liaison with Amazon’s editorial, merchandising, and operations teams while maintaining strong communication with internal stakeholders
  • Conduct ongoing market research to stay current on Amazon platform features, industry trends, competitor activity, and customer behavior
  • Manage inventory levels and physical replenishment for Amazon.com, including:
    • Tracking preorders and sales trends and adjusting forecasts based on demand shifts, publicity, or marketing activity
    • Reviewing and managing Amazon purchase orders, SDQs, and other order prompts to ensure alignment with expectations and evolving demand
    • Responding to high priority or time sensitive order requests
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • 2-5 years’ experience in Sales, with knowledge of Amazon Sales and Marketing tools preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills (V-look ups; pivot tables; etc.), and high degree of comfort with PowerPoint and Outlook required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills including working with large amounts of data
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the aptitude to communicate effectively in both individual and group settings regardless of audience
  • Proven ability to deliver timely, accurate work product and demonstrate good follow up and follow through
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively while also ensuring accuracy of work through attention to detail
 
This role may be filled at the  Associate National Account Manager or National Account Manager level depending on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. Candidates with approximately 2-3 years of relevant experience will be considered for the Associate National Account Manager level, while those with 3-5+ years of experience and demonstrated advanced expertise may be considered for the National Account Manager level. The compensation range for this position is $65k-$70k for Associate NAM, and the salary for National Account Manager is up to $80,000

The compensation range for this position is $65,000-$70,000 for Associate NAM, and the salary for National Account Manager is up to $80,000. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects. Occasional travel is required.
