Job Description

HBG is looking for an  Associate National Account Manager, to drive sales at educational wholesalers which service schools and libraries nationwide.  This highly-organized individual will be responsible for managing our growing frontlist and steady backlist with several accounts, including Brodart, Follett Content Solutions, Mackin, and more. This highly-collaborative role reports to our Associate Director, Children’s Sales and will also work closely with stakeholders across publishing, marketing, and other departments as needed.      
 
This role is based in our NY office and follows a three days per week in-office hybrid schedule.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Serve as primary contact for 100+ educational wholesale accounts across the US
  • Create and curate sales presentations for accounts on a seasonal schedule
  • Sell Hachette & client titles, manage inventory needs, maintain account estimates and orders, and communicate with internal departments on educational initiatives
  • Run and analyze account sales reporting
  • Promptly reply to account requests and provide superior service
  • Create and distribute weekly educational newsletter to accounts
  • Maintain co-op budgets and ensure contracts are entered in a timely manner
  • Attend select educational conferences to meet with accounts, organize account author signing opportunities and provide in-booth support to our publishing colleagues
  • Participate fully and offer market feedback in seasonal go-to-market meetings, including Strategy and Sales Conference 
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED: 
  • At least 2-3 years prior publishing experience, sales preferred
  • Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, high-volume sales department
  • Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail
  • Self-starter, able to take ownership of job responsibilities and manage work time efficiently
  • Able to communicate and work effectively with colleagues at every level of seniority as well as accounts and clients
  • Must be proficient in MS Word, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint and have strong analytical skills
  • Ideal candidates will have experience in children’s book publishing

The compensation range for this position is $65,000 - $72,000. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects. Occasional travel is required.
