What You Will Do

The Associate Motorsport Customer Application Engineer serves as the primary technical contact at customer locations and race tracks to support the development, integration, and optimization of motorsport electronic systems and software. This position requires the ability to work effectively in fast-paced, dynamic environments and involves frequent domestic and international travel (approximately 50–80 days per year).

  • Customer Application Engineering

    Collect customer requirements, manage project timelines, and deliver technical application support for motorsport products including engine controllers, vehicle control units, displays, power boxes, and telemetry modules.
  • Trackside Support and Diagnostics

    Perform real-time diagnostics and troubleshooting at test events and race locations. Analyze live vehicle telemetry and logged data to identify and resolve performance issues.
  • Telemetry and Tooling Configuration

    Set up and maintain trackside telemetry servers, manage wireless radio connections, and develop standardized data analysis dashboards for performance evaluation.
  • Systems Integration and Verification

    Install, integrate, and validate on-vehicle electronic hardware and software. Verify wiring harness integrity, vehicle communication bus data, and resolve component or system-level issues.
  • Virtual Testing (SiL/HiL)

    Set up and execute Software-in-the-Loop (SiL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) simulation tests to validate software updates. Coordinate with development teams to align releases with track activities.
  • Workflow and Software Tool Development

    Support the development and optimization of internal software tools and workflow scripts using MATLAB, Python, C#, or similar languages to improve application processes and team efficiency.
  • Domestic and International Travel

    Travel domestically and internationally, approximately 50–80 days per year, to support development activities at customer facilities, test tracks, and global development locations. This is an essential function of the position.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science
  • 1+ years of experience in industry-relevant application engineering (academic or industry experience)
  • 1+ years of experience with industry-relevant data analysis (working with data acquisition and analysis tools)
  • Industry experience defined as: professional motorsport, significant FSAE, or equivalent

Desired Qualifications

  • Hands-on Automotive Experience

    Practical, hands-on automotive experience related to combustion engines, vehicle systems, wiring harness design, sensor application, and/or mechanical troubleshooting (e.g., project cars, Formula SAE, or shop experience).
  • Customer and Stakeholder Communication

    Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information effectively with customers, suppliers, and team members in dynamic environments.
  • Electrical and Software Debugging

    Ability to read and comprehend electrical schematics to troubleshoot electrical hardware and software implementation issues at system and vehicle levels.
  • Diagnostic Tool Proficiency

    Familiarity with standard diagnostic and measurement tools (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes, Wireshark, CANalyzer, motorsport data acquisition systems).
  • Automotive Communications and Networking

    Foundational knowledge of automotive communications (e.g., CAN, Ethernet) and wired/wireless networking (e.g., LAN, WAN).
  • Programming and Scripting

    Basic programming or scripting experience (e.g., Python, MATLAB, or C#) for data processing, automation, or testing purposes.
