About the Role:
The Associate Medical Director will provide leadership within the Infection Prevention and Control program while maintaining active clinical practice in Infectious Diseases. This individual will work closely with institutional leadership and infection prevention specialists to advance strategic initiatives focused on patient safety, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance.
In addition to leadership responsibilities, the physician will serve as an attending on inpatient and outpatient Infectious Disease services, with the opportunity to practice in general Infectious Diseases and/or Transplant Infectious Diseases.
Key Highlights:
Provide physician leadership in the development, implementation, and oversight of Infection Prevention and Control programs
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to advance system-wide initiatives in patient safety and quality improvement
Support ongoing efforts that have established UMass Memorial Medical Center as a leader in infection prevention, including maintaining low rates of healthcare-associated infections
Participate in inpatient and outpatient Infectious Disease clinical services
Contribute to institutional education and training related to infection prevention practices

Clinical and Programmatic Environment:

Academic Appointment & Scholarly Activity:
This position includes an academic appointment at UMass Chan Medical School at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Medicine, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the academic mission through:
Teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows
Participation in clinical research and/or quality improvement initiatives
Engagement in scholarly activities, including opportunities focused on infection prevention and care for underserved populations
What We’re Looking For:
Board-certified or board-eligible in Infectious Diseases
MD or DO degree and eligibility for Massachusetts medical licensure
Demonstrated experience in Infection Prevention and Control, with the ability to contribute to program development and quality initiatives
Clinical expertise or focused interest in general Infectious Diseases and/or Transplant Infectious Diseases
Interest in clinical research, health equity initiatives, or advancing care for underserved populations
