About Technology Development

The TD team for ISEA is focused on Customer Product development & Engineering, Innovation for the region, rollout of new technologies for the region, testing, Failure Investigation, scaleup from POC to series production, Portfolio Management etc.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title Associate Material Failure Analyst

Reports To Manager Bearing investigation

Role Type Individual Contribution

Location Bangalore

Role Purpose:

To support engineer and also carry out investigation on products with high quality and speed for identify potential root cause through the process of systematic analysis. Also effectively utilize resources of Lab with optimum cost implications and maximum efficiency

Key Deliverables:

    • Preparation of metallographic samples for metallography and performing basic metallographic inspection as per schedule.
    • Operation and basic maintenance of X Ray diffraction machine
    • Operation and basic maintenance of scanning electron microscope
    • Operating Rockwell, Vickers & Micro Vickers hardness tester and to check chemical composition of steel using Optical emission spectrometer, Carbon and Sulphur analyzer and Oxygen and nitrogen gas analysis.
    • Support SEM analysis and EDS analysis of particles.
    • Perform Sample preparation for Level1 bearing analysis.
    • Communicating and coordinating with the customers and stake holders for collecting relevant inputs and performing the analysis and concluding on RCA
    • Make stakeholders aware on complaint handling process and take required support from various functions of SKF for carrying out effective investigation.
    • To ensure that equipment’s are periodically calibrated.
    • To ensure that equipment’s undergo preventive maintenance by coordinating with service providers Viz – suppliers, purchase etc.
    • Participate in ensuring continuous improvement of performance indicators of the projects.
    • Take timely actions on the action points given during the audits.
    • Actively participate in 5S, bridge meetings, improvement meeting, etc.
    • To follow management instructions and procedures to report Environment Health and Safety (EHS) risks and EHS related incidents; to follow quality specifications and requirements and identify quality risks and opportunities for improvement.
    • Meeting all requirements of the Quality management system, such as Interlaboratory comparison, Proficiency testing and uncertainty measurement.
    • Monitoring of environment conditions.
    • Adhering of Preventive maintenance scheduling.
    • Material handling and tracking.

Competencies:

Functional

Hands-on experience metallographic sample preparation, microstructure analysis and mechanical and chemical testing.

Hand on experience in operating SEM And XRD machine

Basic knowledge on failure analysis

Should have knowledge on steel making, heat treatment and forming operations.

Basic knowledge on lubricant properties and its influence on performance characteristics.

Managerial /Leadership:

Stake holder management.

Candidate Profile:

    • Experience: 3- 6 Years.
    • Education: Diploma in metallurgical engineering streams.
