We are seeking a collaborative and committed educator to join the School of Veterinary Science at UQ’s Gatton campus as an Associate Lecturer in Veterinary Science (Animal Husbandry and Clinical Skills). This role will contribute to the delivery of high-quality, practice-based teaching across veterinary science and veterinary technology programs, with a strong focus on livestock and production animal systems.
Working within a supportive and innovative teaching environment, you will play a key role in shaping student learning experiences through applied, real-world training in animal handling and foundational clinical skills.
Key responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
Teaching: Deliver high-quality practical and tutorial teaching in animal husbandry, handling and clinical skills; contribute to course coordination, assessment, and curriculum development; and support student learning and engagement through contemporary, inclusive teaching practices.
Citizenship and Service: Contribute to School service activities, industry engagement, and student recruitment initiatives while demonstrating UQ values and supporting a collegial academic environment.

A degree, diploma or trade qualification in veterinary technology, veterinary nursing, or a related discipline.
Extensive practical experience in animal handling and husbandry, particularly within livestock production systems.
Demonstrated capability in veterinary nursing procedures, clinical examination, and basic veterinary interventions across multiple species.
Emerging experience in teaching or training, with evidence of contributing positively to student learning.
Strong interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, colleagues and industry partners.
Commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining contemporary knowledge of animal welfare and veterinary practice.
Ability to contribute to a positive, inclusive and supportive educational environment.
Relevant educational qualifications and/or vocational training and assessment credentials will be highly regarded.
