QIC’s Infrastructure team manages ~A$42 billion in global unlisted infrastructure assets and is continuing to grow its portfolio across Energy & Utilities, Transport, and Social Infrastructure. With a strong pipeline of opportunities and long-term investor backing, this is an opportunity to join a high-performing team at an exciting time of growth.

We are seeking an Associate on a permanent basis and an Associate on a 12-month max-term basis to join our Energy & Utilities team, supporting both origination and asset management activities across Australia and New Zealand.

The Opportunity

This is a great opportunity that will provide you with broad exposure across the investment lifecycle, supporting both the origination and execution of new investments as well as the active management of portfolio companies. You will work across key energy transition themes, including renewables, transmission and distribution, gas and digital infrastructure, with a focus on opportunities across Australia and New Zealand. As part of a high-performing team, you will partner closely with senior investment professionals, gaining meaningful responsibility and exposure to complex transactions and portfolio activity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead financial analysis including modelling, scenario analysis and valuation

  • Support investment execution including due diligence and investment recommendations

  • Assist with asset management activities including board materials, reporting and stakeholder engagement

  • Interpret model outputs and apply commercial judgement to inform investment decisions

  • Build and maintain relationships across banks, advisors, and industry participants

  • Contribute to sector research and pipeline development

About You

  1. We are looking for someone with strong technical foundations and the ability to think commercially beyond the numbers.

  1. You will likely bring 3–5 years’ experience in financial, commercial and/or operational environments within an infrastructure advisory (e.g. investment banking) or principal investing firm coupled with undergraduate degree in Engineering, Commerce, Economics, Business or Finance.

Skills:

  • Collaborative work style and the ability to work autonomously.

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills in financial modelling and performance tracking.

  • Project participation, prioritisation, and time management skills.

  • Understanding of the M&A execution process and investment due diligence.

  • Ability to prepare structured investment recommendations and board papers.

  • Commercial acumen to identify and analyse key business issues and opportunities.

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and intermediate Word and PowerPoint skills.
