Investment Banking Associate, Healthcare
Location: New York, NY Bank Type: Bulge Bracket Coverage Groups: Healthcare Services, Healthcare IT (HCIT), and Specialty Pharmaceuticals
As an Associate in our Healthcare Investment Banking group, you will act as the primary execution lead for complex financial transactions and strategic advisory assignments. You will sit at the intersection of finance and innovation, working with industry leaders across Healthcare Services, HCIT, and Specialty Pharma
This role requires a blend of rigorous financial modeling, sector-specific strategic thinking, and the ability to manage high-functioning deal teams in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Deal Execution: Lead the day-to-day execution of M&A, IPOs, follow-on offerings, and debt financings. Manage the "engine room" of the deal, ensuring all workstreams are moving toward a successful close.
Financial Analysis & Valuation: Oversee and perform advanced financial analyses, including Three-Statement modeling, DCF, LBO, Accretion/Dilution, and sum-of-the-parts valuations tailored to healthcare-specific metrics (e.g., EBITDA-minus-Capex for Services, or peak sales/probability-adjusted models for Pharma).
Sector Coverage: Maintain deep knowledge of industry trends, such as value-based care tailwinds in Healthcare Services, the adoption of AI/SaaS in HCIT, and the evolving regulatory/reimbursement landscape for Specialty Pharma
Client Management: Act as a key point of contact for corporate clients and private equity sponsors, delivering materials and responding to technical inquiries during the due diligence process.
Mentorship: Supervise and train Analysts, ensuring the accuracy of their work while fostering their professional development.
Marketing & Origination: Draft high-impact pitch books, CIMs (Confidential Information Memorandums), and management presentations that articulate a compelling investment thesis.
Qualifications
Experience: 3+ years of Investment Banking experience (typically as a third-year Analyst or first/second-year Associate) or an MBA from a top-tier business school with prior relevant finance experience.
Technical Skills: Expert-level proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; ability to build complex, dynamic models from scratch.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field with a strong academic record.
Soft Skills: Exceptional "executive presence," high emotional intelligence, and the ability to thrive under the pressure of tight deadlines and "live" deal environments.
