Job Description

The Associate General Counsel – Labor Law will report to the Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer, serving as a trusted advisor on labor law matters for the organization. This role utilizes expertise in labor law and labor relations, including union organizing, collective bargaining, contract administration, and labor arbitrations. The position is ideal for experienced attorneys who have proven success independently managing complex and confidential legal issues, who can collaborate effectively with a diverse management team, and provide guidance in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

This is a hybrid role. On days when onsite activity is not required, individuals in this role may work remotely. All new hires are required to come to a designated Legacy Health office location in Portland, Oregon prior to their start date for a new hire health assessment and to complete new employee orientation.

Responsibilities

  • As an expert in a broad range of legal issues affecting health care providers with significant transactional and/or litigation experience, the Associate General Counsel provides legal advice, counsel, and representation of Legacy Health to ensure conformity with applicable laws and regulations.

  • The Associate General Counsel manages all areas of legal compliance; litigation; contract negotiation and preparation, review, and development; and/or other areas as assigned by the Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer.

  • The Associate General Counsel deals with highly confidential matters. Assignments usually involve unique or complex legal issues.

  • The Associate General Counsel exercises a high degree of independent judgment, sets his or her own objectives with guidance from the Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer, and decides how to proceed to resolve difficult problems while following Legacy and Legal Services policies.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Law degree from an accredited law school required with demonstrated achievement.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of legal experience.

Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and with diverse groups of management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Licensure

  • Licensed to practice law in the applicable state.

  • Membership in the State Bar of Oregon or eligibility for admission based on reciprocity is required.

Pay Range

USD $101.68 - USD $151.50 /Hr.
