Rooted in our distinct culture of Truly Human Leadership, we cultivate the leaders who will define tomorrow and partner with our clients in the food & beverage, life sciences, industrial, and advanced technology industries to build the future of manufacturing and technology.Barry-Wehmiller is a diversified global supplier of engineering consulting and manufacturing technology for the packaging, corrugating, sheeting and paper-converting industries. In this role, you'll negotiate complex design-build and engineer-procure-construct (EPC) contracts, serve as trusted project counsel to our teams, and help resolve disputes practically and proactively — all in service of the trust our clients place in our firm. You'll also assist with the management of our professional liability, builder's risk, and construction-specific insurance program, and handle risk management, licensing, and corporate governance strategy across our architecture, engineering, and construction management entities.

  • Draft and modify AIA, EJCDC, ConsensusDocs, DBIA, and owner-drafted forms
  • Lead negotiations with Executive Team, Project Leadership, and Procurement

Risk Management & Strategy

  • Shape risk mitigation strategy with the Project Team
  • Advise on project selection risk and delivery methodology
  • Support business development through proactive contract terms and direct client engagement

  • Manage disputes: client discussions, liens, mediation, arbitration, litigation, settlements
  • Coordinate with insurers and outside counsel

What You'll Bring

  • JD from an accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice in at least one U.S. state
  • 5+ years in legal experience ideally with an Architecture, Engineering & Construction firm
  • Skilled in drafting and negotiating design-build, EPC, and CM contracts
  • Working knowledge of construction insurance, including professional liability
