Job Description

The Fixture Shop Associate is responsible for creating fixtures based on custom designs. This position reports to the Fixture Shop Supervisor. This role is focused on building high quality fixtures to support our growing stores. With some travel, this role will occasionally complete onsite repairs or modifications.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the “Cavender’s Culture” and drive our Mission, Vision, and Values
  • Construct and assemble fixtures, ensuring all pieces fit the dimensions specified by drawings
  • Accurately prepare and cut raw materials using provided cut lists
  • Adhere to all Fixture Shop procedures to create fixtures safely and accurately
  • Inspect all wood and raw materials before fabrication to ensure high quality finished goods
  • Operate shop machinery safely and efficiently, in a manner consistent with Fixture Shop policies
  • When required, finish fixtures utilizing stain, paint, and clear coat
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements

  • 5-7 years experience in carpentry or equivalent
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Ability to use measurement tools such as: Tape Measure, Speed Square, Level, etc.
  • Ability to operate:
    • Nail Guns (finish, brad)
    • Saws (miter, table)
    • Router (handheld, table)
    • Sander (handheld, table)
  • Job requires employee to remain on his or her feet in an upright position for continuous periods of time without being able to leave the work area
  • Job requires that the employee regularly pick up objects up to 50 lbs
  • Job regularly requires employee to reach for objects
  • Job regularly requires employee to bend forward by bending at the waist or by bending the legs and spine
  • Ability to comprehend basic instructions
  • Ability to understand the meanings of words and effectively respond
  • Based in Tyler, TX at our Fixture Shop
  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
