Job Description

About Us

Engelhart was founded in 2013 by BTG Pactual Group as a commodities trading company. Our business model is “asset light” and highly diversified – giving us the ability to adapt effectively and nimbly to changing market conditions. We have assembled successful multidisciplinary teams, leveraging advanced fundamental analysis with deep quantitative and weather research capabilities. Our activities are underpinned by strong risk management practices and by powerful technology and operational excellence. We have exceptional teams with diverse global backgrounds and decades of experience, and are driven by a highly collaborative culture, across products and competencies.

In 2024, Engelhart acquired Trailstone, a global energy trading and technology company. The acquisition provides us with new expertise, analytics and proprietary technology which is being used to provide risk management and optimisation services to help maximise the value of our clients’ renewable power. The acquisition also expanded Engelhart’s capabilities into physical natural gas across North America, a critical fuel to support the energy transition.

Our talented and experienced individuals work together according to its four company values: Performance, Agility, Collaboration, Entrepreneurship

  • Posting cash and accounts payable transactions to the ledger and assist with expense reviews.
  • Assisting with month-end close activities, including but not limited to balance sheet reconciliation, substantiation and preparation of journal posting files.
  • Updating financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed.
  • Assisting with external audit engagements.
  • Assisting in the continued development of Finance and Accounting systems and procedures.

In time, we also expect this individual to attain and develop the following knowledge and experience, in the pursuit of true career progression:

  • Ability to perform margin and collateral posting, as well as cashflow and daily excess reporting for external counterparties.
  • Knowledge of the inner workings of operational finance within a merchant trading house.
  • On the job training within renewables, power and gas commodity markets.

About You

This person will be at the early stages of their accounting career with some relevant working experience and accounting qualifications, seeking an opportunity to gain international accounting experience within a dynamic commercial environment. In addition, we are looking for somebody with the following experiences and skills:

  • At least one year of relevant practical experience in an accounting or finance function.
  • Examinations completed towards qualification under a widely known accounting body (CIMA, ACCA, ACA).
  • Comfortable using MS Office applications including a high proficiency in MS Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, data validation, data visualisation).
  • Excellent organisational skills, willing to manage large sets of financial data.
  • Analytical and highly numerate, with strong attention to detail.
  • A team player approach and willingness to support the wider team where needed.
