Job Description

The Associate Expeditor utilizes existing Expediting procedures to solve routine or standard problems. They receive instruction, guidance, and direction from others within the team, and they will leverage their conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures related to Expediting and Supply Chain.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Work on assigned projects and understand the expediting strategy for all assigned projects
  • Execute expediting frequency based on the Expediting Level assigned to the Purchase Order
  • Liaise with suppliers and other functions to facilitate the status of project goods and materials
  • Identify supplier performance gaps and potential delivery delays and advise others as necessary in a timely fashion. Expedite supplier data submission for review as required by the Purchase Order including arranging meetings with supplier and Engineering
  • Monitor supplier materials, buy-out status, fabrication progress, shipping & documentation status by Purchase Order requirements and contract schedule
  • Anticipate supplier's early production problems and check to ensure planned production is not delayed due to materials and resource shortage
  • Input consistent and timely updates in the Company system and distribute expediting reports to the Project Team and Suppliers to provide insight into the progress of the package and to flag any concerns or issues for discussion
  • Identify, troubleshoot & resolve potential problems that may delay the delivery of goods or services
  • Work with Quality Team to obtain Inspection notification from the supplier and liaise with the Quality group for inspection arrangements
  • Coordinate Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) timing with supplier, package manager, engineer, quality inspector, 3rd party inspector, and when applicable, the client
  • Coordinate with the traffic coordinator to resolve export compliance requirements and obtain timely shipping documents from the supplier
  • Ensure the Over, Short & Damage (OS&Ds) and Equipment Receiving and Inspection Reports (ERIR) are addressed and closed out to minimize the impact on the project schedule
  • Resolve open POs delivery
  •  Ensure all the packages are closed out after Final Documentation is received
  • Drive accurate and timely project status reporting process and weekly expediting reports
  • Drive issue resolution with suppliers and other functional stakeholders
  • Review PO delivery requirements to ensure schedule requirements are met
  • Perform other Expediting tasks as assigned

Essential Qualifications and Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Supply Chain Management (or a relevant discipline) or HSD/GED/IGCSE with 2 years of relevant experience
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of Materials Management systems for procurement and logistics
  • Solid understanding of Expediting systems used to support the process of project execution
  • Understanding of the expediting process as outlined in the Unifi system
  • Able to apply knowledge in expediting work activities
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access)
  • Understanding of the overall material management lifecycle
