Associate Executive Director
Department: Center Staff
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: Parkway YMCA
Reporting To: Kevin Flynn
Compensation: $75,000 - $82,000 / year
The Associate Executive Director oversees assigned areas of a YMCA Center including health, well-being and fitness, membership, aquatics, sports, and youth, teen and family programs. The Associate Executive Director will participate in volunteer and staff development, financial development, community relations and collaborations with community agencies. Position reports to the Executive Director.
Key Responsibilities
Key Functions/Responsibilities:
· Establish, with the center leadership team, long range plans for programs and services, in harmony with overall YMCA objectives.
· Direct management of 5 directors overseeing health and wellness, membership, aquatics, sports/family programs, and teen programs.
· Represent and promote the YMCA in the local community and develop positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery area.
· Recruit, hire, train, develop and direct employees and volunteers. Review and evaluate staff performance. Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
· Develop, manage and monitor assigned operating budgets to meet or exceed targets. Recommend adjustments to the budget to assure a balanced operation and submit reports on current operations.
· Develop and direct high quality member engagement strategies and programs which support branch and Association mission, goals, and strategies.
· Engage in active listening with members to build relationships, understand individual's goals and interests and take the initiative to assist in the achievement of those goals.
· Ensure the cleanliness, safety and operational condition of facilities, equipment, and grounds of the branch to assure high standards.
· Serve as a member of YMCA management and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA.
· Ensure growth in membership, health & fitness, aquatics, sports, youth & teen programs.
· Maintain a professional image and manner consistent with the YMCA mission and goals.
· Support the annual budgeting process and ensure effective management to budget while driving revenue across all departments and managing expenses.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Education/Experience:
· Bachelor's degree in exercise science, human services, recreation, business, or related field, plus three years related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
· Five or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other not-for-profit agency.
Skills and Competencies:
· Ability to direct assigned operations including volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations and program development/management.
· Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with leading health, well-being, and fitness operations, including group exercise and personal training.
· Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
· YMCA Team Leader or Multi-Team/Branch Leader certification preferred.
CPR, First Aid & other program specific certifications required upon or after hire.
