Job Description

Reapit – Who are we?

Reapit is the original, end-to-end business technology provider for estate agencies of all sizes. We’ve been helping sales and lettings agents to build relationships and grow their businesses for more than 25 years. Our technology connects property professionals in Europe, the Middle East, Australia, and New Zealand with buyers, sellers, tenants and landlords to power the relationships that change lives.

In Australia, Reapit stands as the preferred technology choice among the nation's leading estate agents and agencies. Tailored to the unique demands of the Australian property market, Reapit provides successful leaders with unparalleled tools across sales, property management, client relations, and data analytics, reinforcing their position at the pinnacle of real estate excellence.

What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Engineering Director you’ll be involved in:

  • Supporting the Engineering Director with the day-to-day leadership of the Brisbane engineering teams, taking ownership of business-as-usual delivery allowing the ED team capacity to focus on broader strategic priorities.

  • Acting as a hands-on people leader and mentor for engineers across the team, helping to build an environment of collaboration, technical quality and continuous improvement.

In this capacity, your responsibilities will include:

  • Line management and mentorship of entry-level through to senior engineers, conducting regular check-ins, supporting career development, compensation and performance management as well as providing day-to-day pastoral care.

  • Running BAU engineering activity across delivery squads, keeping work moving, unblocking teams and maintaining a steady, predictable cadence of delivery.

  • Providing engineering and delivery oversight for one or two key projects, working closely with product counterparts to keep them on track.

  • Conducting regular skills assessments and identifying training needs, helping engineers take ownership of their own development against the skills matrix for their level.

  • Supporting the Engineering Director with resource planning, squad allocation and the smooth running of the wider engineering function.

  • Promoting the Reapit Global Technology Strategy and advocating for shared platform tooling such as Reapit Connect, Elements and the Design System within the team.

  • Helping to embed engineering best practice, working with Architecture, Security and DevOps colleagues to maintain well-architected, secure and well-tested code.

  • Supporting incident response and operational quality across the team, escalating to the Engineering Director where wider coordination is needed.

  • Contributing to a culture of shipping every cycle, helping the team deliver high-quality work within Reapit’s global sprint cadence.

Who we're looking for

At Reapit, we prioritise hiring individuals who share our values and possess the right attitudes and behaviours for success. Whilst some of the listed requirements may be important, don’t worry if you don’t meet all of them, we’d still like to hear from you.

  • Currently operating at Staff Engineer level or above within Reapit, with a strong engineering background and a track record of technical excellence.

  • Demonstrable experience mentoring and guiding other engineers, with a genuine interest in moving into a people leadership and management role.

  • A pragmatic, hands-on approach to keeping delivery moving, comfortable owning BAU activity and removing blockers for the team.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with engineers, product counterparts and the wider Brisbane team.

  • Good working knowledge of the Reapit platform estate and the Global Technology Strategy, or the appetite to build it quickly.

  • An organised, dependable approach to project and delivery oversight, even with competing priorities.

  • A collaborative mindset and a commitment to fostering an inclusive, respectful and supportive working environment.

  • Comfortable taking difficult decisions aligned with business needs where required, and advocating for wider business strategic policies and programs within engineering.

What your impact and success looks like

We expect your success and impact in the early stages of your career with us to look something like this:

Within 1 month:

  • Built strong relationships with the Engineering Director and your direct reports, and developed a clear understanding of the teams, squads and projects you are supporting.

  • Established a regular rhythm of one-to-ones and check-ins with your reports.

  • Got to grips with the BAU workload and the key projects under your oversight.

Within 3 months:

  • Taken full ownership of day-to-day BAU delivery, freeing up meaningful Engineering Director capacity.

  • Provided steady oversight of your one or two key projects, keeping them on track with their product counterparts.

  • Begun to influence team practices, quality and ways of working, and started supporting reports with their development goals.

Within 6 months:

  • Become a trusted and effective people leader within the Brisbane engineering function, recognised by your reports and the wider team.

  • Delivered consistent, predictable BAU output and reliable progress on your key projects.

  • Demonstrated clear growth toward the full Engineering Director remit, with reports progressing and the team operating smoothly under your day-to-day leadership.

We operate a Flexible Working Policy and you are free to determine where you work from, be that from home or in the Sydney or Brisbane offices, and how often but we certainly recommend a balance.

Don't tick all the boxes? Neither do we

We care about our industry and want it to become a more inclusive and diverse place to work. So, we’re driven by hiring not only by experience and relevance for the role but by sharing our values and the right attitudes and behaviours for success. We are committed to Equal Employment Opportunity through attracting and retaining a complementary team of employees and building an inclusive environment for all. We feel we have an empowering environment where everyone is supported and respected, and we want you to feel this too. We welcome new ideas, thinking and approaches, whilst listening to all our employees.
