Role Definition
Creates, implements and improves engineering designs, processes, techniques, tooling and machinery to meet customer requirements and maximize product quality.

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of Heat treat, steel making and Casting processes
  • Working knowledge on Diesel Engine systems Experience in handling metallurgical test equipment's viz Hardness Tester, Metallurgical Microscope, tensile tester, Image Analyzer and other metallographic equipment's.
  • Familiar with various international standards like ASTM / SAE/ISO/JIS

Preferred skills

  • Exposure to ISO 17025, ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 Quality management system Problem solving skills, exposure to 6 sigma concepts.
  • Level II certification in UT, RT, MPI and DPT Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to implement methodology/standard practice in assigned job.
  • Data analysis and interpretation skills

Qualification

  • Graduate / Post Graduate in Metallurgy or Material Science

Experience

  • 4 to 9 years of industrial experience in Engineering Industry preferably in the field of testing and qualification of Diesel Engine Components

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluation of raw materials and components with reference to applicable Caterpillar standards
  • Conduct failure analysis of engine components returned from field as well as test cell Support Global purchasing in development of supplier process through effective process and part validation
  • Work with suppliers in developing and improving metallurgical processes Monitor supplier Quality through periodic process assessment and component audits
  • Support operations through receiving inspection, line audit and final inspection
  • Effective communication with customers and suppliers
  • Effectively interact with AMT groups
  • Liaising with external testing laboratories for testing of bought out components and product fluids/process fluids.

Additional information: This position requires working onsite five days a week.
