About the area

The Directorate of Student Life and Community sits within UWA’s Education and Student Experience Portfolio and plays a critical role in delivering a world-class student experience. Through its integrated services and initiatives, the Directorate fosters inclusion, belonging, wellbeing, safety, accessibility and student success across the entire student lifecycle.

As part of this Directorate, the Student Conduct and Resolution Centre (SCRC) provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of the University’s complaint resolution, student conduct, child safety and integrity frameworks. Working collaboratively across the University, the Centre promotes accountability, respectful behaviour, procedural fairness and institutional integrity through contemporary, student-centred and trauma-informed practices.

About the opportunity

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for the University’s complaint resolution, student conduct, child safety and integrity functions, ensuring alignment with legislation, governance requirements and sector best practice.
• Lead the management and investigation of complex, sensitive and high-risk matters, including gender-based violence investigations, while ensuring trauma-informed practice, procedural fairness and defensible decision-making.
• Partner with University Executive, senior leaders and governance committees to provide expert advice, strengthen institutional capability, identify emerging risks and drive continuous improvement through governance, policy, systems and data-led insights.

About you

• Extensive senior leadership experience in complaints management, investigations, conduct, integrity, regulatory or comparable governance functions within a complex organisation.
• Deep knowledge of the Australian higher education, regulatory or public sector environment, including procedural fairness, complaint resolution, child safety, integrity and risk management frameworks.
• Demonstrated expertise leading complex investigations and high-risk case management, including the application of trauma-informed, evidence-based and restorative approaches.
• Strong capability to influence and advise senior stakeholders, supported by exceptional judgement, negotiation, conflict resolution and relationship management skills.
• Proven ability to develop high-performing teams, governance frameworks, policies, systems and continuous improvement initiatives, complemented by outstanding written communication and reporting skills.
