Job Description

Would you like to play a key role in the growth of EMM’s acoustics team in Adelaide?

Are you excited by the chance to work on projects where noise is not just a consideration, but an important part of the approval puzzle?

Do you want to work with industry leaders across diverse technical disciplines, as you collaborate to deliver projects?

This could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.

At EMM, we believe that a sustainable future is achievable and we proactively pursue opportunities to help our clients and the community make it a reality. Our dedicated team of environmental professionals are committed to driving positive change through innovation, collaboration and out-of-the-box thinking.

Our Acoustics team includes some of EMM’s longest standing members, who have seen the team grow from one of EMM's founding Directors to over 20 consultants nationally. Through authentic leadership, active collaboration, commitment to their and others development and a healthy work life balance, they have been key in creating a stable and successful team environment.

We provide comprehensive acoustical consulting services throughout the entire project life cycle across our three key markets of infrastructure, mining and energy. From masterplan and concept design input to approval documents, design development, commissioning, and ongoing support during project operations, we cover it all. As one of Australia’s leading environmental consultancies, we believe in a sustainable future and are dedicated to helping our clients and the community turn that vision into a reality.

Our EMM Adelaide office includes a variety of technical experts, and we are committed to continuing to grow our presence locally. As an Associate/Associate Director in our Adelaide office, you’ll have the freedom to play to your strengths and put your own stamp on the role, team and wider business.

Here’s what you can expect in your new role with EMM:

  • With the support of the national acoustic team, your role will be pivotal to the growth of our acoustics team in South Australia.
  • Your expertise will be far reaching, bringing impact to projects across Australia, and to clients in our key markets; mining, energy and infrastructure.
  • You’ll act as Project Director or Project Manager, with responsibility for successful project delivery including monitoring project budgets, tracking schedules and deliverables and outcome evaluation.
  • Through leveraging internal networks you’ll identify opportunities to work with our existing clients, whilst your deep industry knowledge and strong local network will help you to identify broader opportunities.
  • You will have access to leading noise modeling packages, a range of hardware for noise monitoring projects, and even in-house software engineering capability.
  • The support you need to deliver exceptional quality with specialist teams across EMM and leaders who are truly present and excited to help you deliver.
  • Satisfaction from inspiring and supporting other EMMer’s on their development journey.
  • The autonomy, flexibility and support you need to balance all aspects of your life.

Here’s what you’ll bring to have impact:

  • A science or engineering tertiary qualification is essential, and membership with the Australian Acoustical Society and/or Registered Professional Engineer status would be advantageous.
  • Deep understanding of the South Australian market, and ability to be able to identify opportunities within our key markets; Renewable energy, mining and/or transport infrastructure.
  • A strong desire and passion for developing others and supporting their professional growth.
  • Proven acoustics experience, gained within a consultancy environment.
  • Proficiency in and/or experience with noise modeling packages such as SoundPlan, CadnaA, and iNoise.
  • Strong project management skills that you can effectively utilise to deliver high quality outcomes with a best-for-project focus.
  • Demonstrated experience in noise monitoring, acoustic testing, noise modeling, developing client relationships, and other related areas.
  • Experience in and/or strong desire to mentor and guide others.
  • Full Australian driving license.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

If you’re looking to be part of a team that values innovation and empowers you to make a real impact, EMM could be the place for you.

When you submit your application, look out for our email confirming safe receipt and important information regarding next steps.

Our goal is to build a team of EMMers that looks like the world around us — and we want EMMers to stay and grow. As part of our efforts to build an EMM for everyone, we embed diversity, equity, and inclusion into our work and we aim to cultivate a sense of belonging throughout the company.
