About the Organisation:
We are partnering with a reputed non-profit organisation that has been working for over two decades to strengthen governance systems and enable large-scale impact across urban India. The organisation works closely with government and ecosystem stakeholders on research, policy support, and capacity building to drive long-term, sustainable change.

Public Finance Management (PFM) is a core focus area, with the organization working to improve financial sustainability, efficiency, and accountability of urban local bodies through policy advisory, system design, and implementation support across Union and State governments.

Position Summary:

The Associate Director will lead high-impact engagements with central and state government institutions to design and drive public finance reforms at scale. This role is suited for a senior professional with strong policy, stakeholder management, and program leadership experience, particularly in government advisory or development consulting contexts.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Stakeholder Engagement


  • Lead engagements with senior officials across Union and State governments to drive adoption of public finance reforms

  • Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders including government ministries, departments, and ecosystem partners

  • Strengthen the organization's visibility and credibility within the policy and governance ecosystem

  • Enable adoption of data-driven decision-making frameworks and platforms across government stakeholders

  • Support fundraising and donor engagement efforts through domain expertise and relationship-building

2. Program Delivery


  • Own end-to-end program and project delivery across multiple workstreams

  • Establish robust program management systems, reporting structures, and review mechanisms

  • Anticipate risks, design mitigation strategies, and ensure timely communication with stakeholders

  • Drive cross-team collaboration to ensure integrated and high-impact outcomes

3. Team Leadership


  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team, including hiring, performance management, and capability building

  • Foster a high-performance, values-driven team culture

  • Identify and nurture high-potential talent for future leadership roles
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Advanced degree (MBA/Masters) in Finance, Economics, Public Policy, Engineering, or related fields
  • 10+ years of experience in public policy, government advisory, consulting, or development sector

  • Prior experience working closely with government stakeholders on policy design or implementation

  • Strong program management and stakeholder engagement experience; urban sector exposure is a plus
