About the Role

The Women NSW team is looking for an experienced Associate Director, Projects to join the team up to 30 June 2028, with the potential to extend or convert to ongoing.

Women NSW sits within the Justice and Security Policy Branch in the Social Policy & Intergovernmental Relations Group at The Cabinet Office. The team leads initiatives that support better outcomes for women and girls across NSW by driving strategic projects, partnerships and evidence-based policy reform.

As the Associate Director, Projects, you will lead and deliver a portfolio of complex and interconnected projects from planning through to implementation and evaluation. You will oversee governance, stakeholder engagement, risk management and reporting, while providing strategic advice and recommendations to support informed decision-making and successful project outcomes. Your work will involve collaborating with stakeholders across government, community organisations and external partners to deliver initiatives aligned with government priorities.

We're Looking For

• Complex Project Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading large-scale, high-profile projects or programs in government, the social policy sector or a similarly complex environment
  
• People Leadership: Experience leading and developing project teams, fostering collaboration, building capability and creating a positive team culture that delivers high-quality outcomes
  
• Policy and Program Delivery: Experience translating policy objectives into practical initiatives, programs or projects. You understand how to move from strategy to implementation and can provide sound advice on delivery approaches, risks, impacts and opportunities
  
• Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong research, analytical and critical thinking capability, with the ability to assess complex information, identify emerging issues and develop evidence-based recommendations to support decision-making and project outcomes.
  
• Communication and Leadership: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including preparing executive briefs, reports and recommendations for senior decision-makers
  
• Strategic Stakeholder Engagement: Proven ability to build trusted relationships and influence senior leaders, government agencies, community organisations and other stakeholders.
