At Thermo Fisher Scientific, our Associate Director Operational Bidding medical communications leads the development of proposals, bids and associated operational models.

How you will make an impact:

  • Lead a team of 5 and work with cross functional teams including business development, operations, technical operations, finance, and senior leadership to produce thorough, accurate bids and proposals for medical affairs scopes of work.
  • Lead the operational pricing solutions to keep improving sales and market penetration, driving wins while ensuring the business’ long-term objectives are met.
  • Be a trusted adviser to commercial team on large deal related matters, elevate information into innovative solutions and advise sale team on winning strategy to help drive deal closures.
  • Review, evaluate and respond to RFPs, oversees strategy meetings, direct and conduct the solutioning and production of bids and proposals, develops and maintains accurate standards.
  • Interact with clients to gain additional information, provide education and feedback regarding the feasibility of a given program, assists BD with presentations regarding specific programs, and in closing deals.
  • Identify areas of improvement for enhanced solutioning, bid and proposal efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manage the day-to-day workflow of the bids and proposal team to drive decision making and accountability for adherence to deadlines.
  • Mentor professional development of team members and build trusting cross-functional business relationships.

How you will get here:

Requirements

• Advanced Degree plus 6 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 8 years of experience in solutioning, proposals, pricing or related roles. Experience in medical communications operations preferred.

Knowledge, Skills (incl. systems), Competencies
• Excellent investigative, analytical and consistent track record to identify commercial team needs, invent new ways to meet those needs and solve ambiguous problems.
• Crafting and influencing decisions in a high-energy, fast-paced, high-matrix environment
• Proficient user of Microsoft Office, PowerBI, sourcing systems, etc.
• Hire, lead, coach, strengthen and develop the team to enable professional and technical growth as well as talent retention.
• Promote a culture of personal responsibility/accountability and open communications.
• Demonstrates and promotes the company vision, values and competencies.
• Highly capable to identify process and control gaps and champion improvement initiatives through Practical-Process-Improvement
