
The Golden Triangle Business Improvement District (BID) is seeking an Associate Director of Safety and Preparedness to lead the BID’s award-winning Safe, Secure, and Prepared program. This position will work to foster a safe environment, contribute to neighborhood security, and assist businesses and individuals in preparing for all types of emergencies. This position will work with one direct report to manage the day-to-day safety operations of the BID, including the Safety Specialist, Homeless Outreach, and safety technology alerting and camera programs. Each day this role will work with government agencies, social service partners, and BID members to track trends, monitor crime, and creatively address neighborhood concerns.
Founded in 1997, the Golden Triangle Business Improvement District (BID) encompasses 172 downtown block faces and works to enhance the public space from the White House to Dupont Circle and 16th Street, NW to 21st Street, NW. The BID’s vision is for a safe, clean, attractive and user-friendly downtown that confirms Washington as the premier business and entertainment destination in the region and contributes to the perception that downtown Washington is a world-class destination.
In addition to its focus on maintaining an environment that is clean, safe and welcoming, the BID regularly initiates capital improvements to create attractive and unique urban spaces throughout the Golden Triangle neighborhood. The BID has taken the lead on activating public spaces, developing and implementing permanent public art projects, converting hardscapes to bio-retention areas, improving parks through design, and transforming the Connecticut Avenue streetscape from K Street to Dupont Circle.
The Associate Director of Safety and Preparedness reports to the Chief of Staff and will work strategically, to build and maintain strategic partnerships with public safety agencies, emergency management, and others to enhance safety in the BID. These relationships allow the BID to be a conduit between public and private sectors before, during, and after emergencies. This position will also develop and implement the BID’s safety and preparedness training and exercise program- conducting internal and external exercises and trainings for BID staff, Ambassadors, Safety Specialists, and for BID members and partners.
Due to its operational role, telework is not available.
A competitive salary of $105,000 - 115,000 is offered based on qualifications and experience as well as a comprehensive benefits package.
