Reports: Area Director, Eastern European Countries, dotted-line to Eastern and Northern Europe Market Access Director  BioMarin, a global leader in biotech medicines for Rare and Ultra‑Rare diseases, is recruiting for a SM/AD Market Access in Eastern European Countries (Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Baltic states, Balkans, Greece, Cyprus, Malta).
The SM/AD, Market Access – Eastern European Countries (EEC) is responsible for driving, coordinating, and executing all delegated market access–related activities across the assigned countries.The role ensures effective planning and implementation of market access strategies, health‑policy activities, payer engagements, early pipeline/new product planning, and cross‑functional collaboration to support BioMarin’s portfolio.This position works in close alignment with the ENE Market Access team, Medical Affairs, Marketing, and local Commercial teams to secure timely and sustainable access to BioMarin products for patients across diverse healthcare systems. Success in this role requires a highly collaborative, transparent, and solution‑oriented working style to ensure smooth coordination across Commercial and cross‑functional teams.  Responsibilities:  Market Access Strategy and Execution: 
  • Coordinate and deliver all market access activities in the EEC region. Primary focus of activities is in Poland and other Eastern European Countries as prioritised in alignment with the EEC Commercial team and ENE Market Access leadership.
  • Preparation of Pricing and Reimbursement dossiers for different archetypes of markets and health systems, such as HTA markets, budgetary‑driven markets, and Named Patient‑sales markets.
  • Support national and regional reimbursement processes, pricing negotiations, and renewal cycles of contracts and named patient‑sales applications where applicable, in support of Commercial objectives.
  • Ensure consistency of communication and alignment with Global, International, and ENE Market Access, and cross‑functional regional teams (Medical Affairs, Marketing, Legal, Advocacy, Government Affairs, Communications).
Payer & Stakeholder Engagement: 
  • Identify, map, and prioritise key national, regional, and local stakeholders across assigned countries and institutions.
  • Engage with payers/ex‑payers/agencies toward preparation of HTA submissions, establishing and maintaining credible, long‑term relationships with them.
  • Capture payer needs and insights to inform internal planning on evidence generation, pricing strategies, and market access.
  • Directly or indirectly activate local stakeholders, including trade organisations, HCPs, medical societies, politicians, and representatives from patient advocacy organisations, to create a supportive environment for discussions on rare and ultra‑rare diseases.
Access Policy: 
  • Continuously monitor the health policy environment, HTA/reimbursement reforms, pricing legislation, and payer trends across the EEC.
  • Liaise with relevant coalitions, trade organisations, and interest groups that operate/work in rare disease.
  • Provide regular briefings and recommendations to the Regional and Global Market Access teams regarding the evolving policy landscape.
  • Influence discussions on policy that benefit access to rare diseases or legitimate BioMarin interests on pricing, HTA, and access.
General responsibilities/requirements: 
  • Work closely with cross‑functional teams (Medical Affairs, Marketing, Legal, Advocacy, Government Affairs, Communications).
  • Ensure seamless, proactive collaboration with the EEC Commercial team, maintaining continuous alignment on priorities, planning, and execution to support unified regional strategies. 
  • Demonstrate transparent, timely communication with all internal stakeholders, ensuring clarity, alignment, and efficient issue resolution across markets. 
  • Foster constructive, cross‑functional partnerships built on trust, accountability, and open dialogue. 
  • Provide Market Access perspective to cross‑functional brand planning, Commercial goal‑setting, scenario analysis, and strategic or tactical discussions.
  • Contribute to improved positioning of key BioMarin assets in payer recommendations, treatment guidelines, and national/regional formularies.
  • Provide continuous analysis on the evolving payer landscape to inform forward‑looking strategies and internal decision‑making, in preparation for future launches.
  • Ensure all activities adhere to local regulations, laws, and codes of conduct, both EU and national, as well as internal BioMarin SOPs and relevant codes of conduct.
  • Be available for regional travel across the EEC region, and occasional travel to broader European or Global meetings, conferences, and cross‑functional workshops.
 Education: 
  • University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Life Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacy, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Advanced degrees in Market Access, Health Economics, Public Health, or Health Policy preferred.
  • Fluency in English required; additional Central/Eastern European languages an advantage.
 Experience: 
  • Several years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, ideally in:
    • Market Access
    • Health Economics / HTA
    • Health Policy
    • Pricing & Reimbursement
    • Marketing or related commercial functions
  • Strong knowledge of reimbursement frameworks and decision‑making processes in Poland (mandatory) and Central & Eastern Europe.
  • Proven ability to translate, summarise, and communicate clinical and economic evidence into compelling payer value propositions.
  • Experience working with cross‑functional teams and external experts (HTA bodies, payers, KOLs, consultants).
  • Previous regional experience (multi‑country responsibility is a strong advantage).
  • Track record of operating with high accountability, delivering on commitments, and maintaining strong cross‑functional alignment.

  • Collaborative mindset with a mature, low‑ego approach to cross‑functional work.
