We’re doing it with energy, curiosity and sheer dedication, always learning from unique perspectives of those around us, expanding our thinking, growing our capabilities and redefining ‘impossible’. There are so many reasons to join us. If you’re hungry to build a varied and meaningful career in a community of brilliant and diverse minds to make a real difference, there’s only one choice.

Associate Director Managed Care Rebate Strat & Ops

As Associate Director, Managed Care Rebate Strategy & Operations, you strengthen Bayer’s Commercial Rebate Operations and GTN performance by bringing deep industry expertise into the organization, advancing Model N capabilities, improving rebate and discount controls, and identifying opportunities to prevent revenue leakage and maximize net sales.

You combine hands-on Commercial rebate operations experience with strategic GTN insight, industry benchmarking, strong analytical judgment, and the ability to translate external best practices into scalable Bayer processes, system enhancements, and measurable financial outcomes as a key member of the GTN Strategy, Operations and Compliance team.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Associate Director, Managed Care Rebate Strategy & Operations, are to:

  • Serve as a Model N business subject matter expert, elevating payment processing, validation logic, customer reporting, reconciliation, operational reporting, workflow discipline, and use of advanced system capabilities beyond baseline processing;
  • Transfer industry knowledge and external best practices into Bayer’s Commercial Rebate Operations, with emphasis on rebate accuracy, payment controls, dispute management, customer operations, and GTN optimization;
  • Identify, prioritize, and implement GTN improvement opportunities, including revenue leakage prevention, claims validation expansion, duplicate-discount mitigation, contract compliance monitoring, and recovery of overpaid rebates, fees, and discounts;
  • Modernize dispute management by strengthening tracking, aging review, escalation routines, documentation standards, customer communication, and recovery discipline;
  • Lead process and system improvements that reduce manual workarounds, shorten job runs, improve payment timing, streamline reconciliations, and enhance operational visibility across Commercial Rebate Operations;
  • Support design and implementation of new Managed Care payment models, ensuring accurate system configuration, robust testing, clear documentation, operational readiness, and compliant execution;
  • Manage and direct offshore resources supporting Commercial Rebate Operations, including workload allocation, training, quality review, performance monitoring, and disciplined issue escalation;
  • Lead operational discussions with PBMs, GPOs, Specialty Pharmacies, Wholesalers, and other external stakeholders to resolve rebate, dispute, data, and contract interpretation issues in a timely, professional manner;
  • Partner with Market Access, Strategic Contracting, Account teams, Finance, Accounting, Legal, Compliance, O2C, Product Supply, IT, and external vendors to improve end-to-end GTN execution and deliver high-quality, auditable rebate operations;
  • Build sustainable process documentation, training materials, performance metrics, and dashboards to reduce key-person dependency and support scalable, repeatable, and auditable operations.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following;

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate hands-on Model N expertise, preferably including Validata, rebate payment package workflows, customer reporting, contract setup, reconciliation, and process troubleshooting in complex, data-rich environments;
  • Apply a strong GTN mindset with proven ability to identify revenue leakage, payment errors, duplicate discounts, contract non-compliance, and process inefficiencies, and to translate findings into pragmatic improvement actions;
  • Challenge legacy processes and status quo assumptions by developing practical improvement plans that balance speed, control, compliance, and customer impact, while influencing cross-functional stakeholders;
  • Manage offshore or third-party operational resources effectively, including clear task direction, quality review, service-level expectations, and structured issue escalation;
  • Utilize strong financial, analytical, and forensic problem-solving skills to investigate rebate variances, large-dollar disputes, customer trends, and system-generated outputs and to drive data-informed decisions;
  • Lead customer-facing operational calls confidently and resolve complex rebate, data, and contract issues professionally and decisively;
  • Apply strong knowledge of compliance, quality assurance, internal controls, audit readiness, and documentation requirements in pharmaceutical revenue management to maintain robust control environments;
  • Communicate with excellence in written and verbal formats, including the ability to translate technical or operational issues into clear, executive-ready summaries and decision recommendations;
  • Use solid project management capabilities to support system stabilization, process redesign, new payment model implementation, and cross-functional execution from planning through delivery;

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, life sciences, healthcare administration, data analytics, or a related field, with an advanced degree preferred;

  • Have experience with PBM rebate agreements, price protection, administrative fees, data fees, service fees, formulary validations, 340B duplicate discount mitigation, and dispute recovery in an evolving market access landscape;
