Your Role: Associate Director - IT

Elanco is seeking a dynamic and technically strong Associate Director to lead our Infrastructure Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a talented team that oversees our hybrid cloud environment, spanning on-premises VMware and public cloud platforms like Azure and GCP. The ideal candidate is a self-driven leader with a passion for automation, a solid understanding of DevOps culture, and the ability to provide expert technical oversight for day-to-day operations.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of infrastructure engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee the day-to-day operations of our global hybrid infrastructure, ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of our systems.
  • Technical Oversight: Provide hands-on technical guidance, acting as a senior escalation point for complex issues and architectural decisions across VMware, Azure, and GCP environments.
  • Automation & Efficiency: Drive the strategy and execution of automation initiatives to streamline processes, reduce manual intervention, and improve operational efficiency.
  • DevOps Collaboration: Work with team on Sprint planning and execution
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the infrastructure roadmap, influencing technology selection and modernization efforts to meet future business needs.
  • Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships with key technology vendors and communicate effectively with business stakeholders on performance, projects, and incidents.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications):

  • 10+ years of experience in Infrastructure operations.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Good to have Professional certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, Google Professional Cloud Architect).
  • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with IT Service Management (ITSM) frameworks like ITIL.
  • Experience with facilitation and co-ordination of projects

What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):

  • Proven experience in a technical leadership role managing infrastructure operations teams.
  • Extensive, hands-on experience with hybrid cloud technologies, including deep technical knowledge of one of these technologies Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or VMware.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, Python).
  • A solid understanding of DevOps principles and how to apply them in an enterprise infrastructure context.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to lead technical troubleshooting efforts.
  • A self-driven and proactive approach, with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
