Associate Director, Executive and Business Management

About the role

As the Associate Director, Executive and Business Management, you will provide strategic, operational and governance leadership to support the Executive Director, Corporate Services and the broader Corporate Services leadership team. Operating at the centre of the division, you will help coordinate priorities, drive business performance and support informed decision-making across Destination NSW.

Working closely with the eight Corporate Services departments, you will lead the division's business planning, governance, performance reporting and strategic operating rhythm, ensuring activities and outcomes align with Destination NSW's strategic objectives and the Visitor Economy Strategy. You will provide high-quality advice, analysis and briefings on key issues, risks and opportunities, while overseeing the coordination and quality of executive, governance and ministerial business.

As a trusted adviser and central point of coordination, you will bring together information from diverse stakeholders, identify emerging risks and opportunities, and ensure strategic priorities are effectively progressed and delivered. You will work collaboratively with senior leaders across Destination NSW, NSW Government departments and portfolio agencies to support organisational priorities, strategic initiatives and high-priority projects.

The role also plays a key part in strengthening business management, governance and policy frameworks, monitoring the delivery of key reforms and initiatives, and identifying opportunities to improve organisational effectiveness. In addition, you will lead and support teams across the Corporate Services portfolio, fostering collaboration, continuous improvement and a high-performance culture while ensuring the delivery of quality advice, reporting and outcomes.

About You

You are a highly capable and adaptable professional with experience in business management, governance, strategy, policy, executive support or a related discipline within a large and complex organisation.

You bring strong judgement, exceptional communication skills and the ability to quickly understand complex issues and translate them into clear, practical advice for senior decision-makers.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Experience providing advice, analysis and executive support to senior leaders.
  • Strong planning, governance and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare concise and influential briefings and reports.
  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships and influence outcomes across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate issues and take initiative.
  • Experience coordinating complex projects, governance frameworks, reporting processes or organisational planning activities.
  • An understanding of NSW Government structures and processes, or the ability to rapidly develop this knowledge.
  • High levels of professionalism, discretion and resilience when working in a dynamic environment.
