Purpose
The position is located in New York City and supports the origination and execution of equity and equity-linked capital markets transactions, including but not limited to initial public offerings, follow-on offerings, convertible equity, and share repurchases. The group works closely with corporations, private companies, and financial sponsors in connection with the product.
Accountabilities
  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
  • Leads the execution of all U.S. equity new issue transactions
  • Leads the preparation and delivery of documents and presentations for clients and prospects related to equity financings
  • Directs and organizes the equity sales team during marketing and coordinates with the syndication desks of other banks
  • Provides client coverage support
  • Oversees and mentors the analysts and associates in the group
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

What You’ll Bring
  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
  • Preferably at least 6 years of Equity Capital Markets or Investment Banking experience in the Power & Utilities or REIT space
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of work.
  • A high level of attention to detail.
  • The ability to perform effectively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to work hard, including extended hours.
  • Strong Excel and Powerpoint skills are necessary for the successful applicant.
