In this role, you'll:
Join the Engineering, Design and Assurance (EDA) team that oversees the engineering, design and assurance requirements across all Sydney Metro projects throughout the project lifecycle. The team is accountable for the Sydney Metro product, driving continuous improvement through innovation and industry leading thought and action.
Reporting to the Director Systems Lead, you will lead engineering, integration and delivery coordination across the Train Systems, Maintenance and Operations (TSMO) package and the Integrated Rail Control System (IRCS), also ensuring that TSMO-delivered systems and interfacing package systems are integrated to achieve a safe, reliable and operable railway.
You will provide technical leadership across the TSMO scope, including signalling, control, communications, radio and operational systems, and is accountable for defining, coordinating and assuring the IRCS as the integrated control and monitoring system that enables coordinated operation of multiple railway subsystems.
Some of your accountabilities will be to:
• Work closely with the Project EDA leadership and lead teams to assure that the overall product delivers against the overall technical outcomes, taking responsibility for the assurance of the systems elements as part of an integrated end-to-end railway.
• Drive the achievement of required metro outcomes across the project and provide expert engineering advice to ensure seamless integration across train control, control systems, control centre, and wayside; stable software/hardware baselines and known configuration at each stage gate.

About you
• Senior engineering leader with substantial experience delivering rail/metro train control and station systems through detailed design, integration, and commission into operations.
• Proven integration across signalling/train control (e.g., moving block/fixed block concepts), ATS/TMS, OCC, telecoms, SCADA/BMCS, PSDs, CCTV/PA, network/cyber, and data interfaces—incl. degraded mode and fallback.
• Significant experience in integrating train control, control centre systems, communications, radio, plant and rolling stock interfaces
• Strong understanding of the legislation, policy, business processes and practices involved in planning for and delivering major rail projects.
• Demonstrated experience in the leadership and management of engineering and design experts and delivery of technical outcomes in a complex project environment.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with experience in leading a function within a high reliability / high risk working environment, a large and complex industrial and/or public sector organisation.
• Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Electrical, Systems, Communications, Software/Control) or closely related field.
• Ability to meet the requirements for Level 3-4 (minimum) competency for Rail System including CBTC, ATS, Interlocking and System Design for IRCS, Level 3 (minimum) competency for System Engineering, Assurance and Level 3 in System Integration in accordance with the Sydney Metro Competency Management system.
• Demonstrated level of relevant and continued professional development equivalent to CPEng conferred by Engineers Australia or relevant professional body
• The role is identified as a Rail Safety Worker
