Job Description

Create your best future and join Westpac as an Associate Director, Credit Analyst - Agribusiness

What’s the role?

We're looking for an experienced credit professional to join Westpac Institutional Bank's Consumer & Industrials team, supporting a portfolio of large agribusiness customers across sectors such as grain, dairy, horticulture, aquaculture and forestry.

This is a permanent opportunity based in Sydney or Melbourne and will give you an opportunity to work with some of Australia's leading agribusiness customers while building your career within one of the country's leading institutional banking teams.

As the primary credit analyst for a portfolio of corporate and institutional clients, you'll help assess new lending opportunities, prepare credit recommendations, and provide ongoing portfolio management support. You'll work closely with Relationship Managers, product specialists and clients to understand their businesses, identify opportunities, and develop banking solutions that support their growth.

You'll analyse financial performance, discuss business plans and strategic priorities with customers, prepare detailed credit submissions, and present recommendations through the bank's credit approval process. You'll also provide industry insights and research that help strengthen customer conversations and deepen Westpac's understanding of the agribusiness sector.

What do I need?

You'll bring strong credit analysis capability, commercial judgement and the ability to build trusted relationships with customers and stakeholders.

  • Experience preparing and assessing complex credit submissions within a corporate, institutional banking or related environment.
  • Strong understanding of agribusiness, including exposure to pre and post farm gate industries.
  • Ability to undertake detailed financial analysis, forecasting and credit risk assessment to support lending decisions.
  • Knowledge of institutional banking products and services, including financial markets, syndications and multi-bank lending environments.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build relationships and discuss business performance, financial results and credit matters with clients and stakeholders.
  • Excellent attention to detail, sound commercial acumen and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills will be highly regarded, as will knowledge of Westpac's credit frameworks and systems.

Why join us?

We’re obsessed with becoming our customers' #1 banking partner for life and we’re looking for people who are passionate about helping us achieve that goal. In return, we’re committed to making Westpac the best place to work in the country. Here are just a few of the ways we’re already doing that:

  • Special offers on banking products and discounts from top brands, including generous employee-only mortgage rates!
  • Flexible work arrangements to help you achieve a greater work/life balance, and a variety of leave options including Culture, Lifestyle and Wellbeing leave.
  • Tailored learning and development opportunities to help you grow your career within the bank.
  • Lots of opportunities to ‘give back’ to the Community by getting involved in our many volunteering initiatives.
