Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:

To drive high-quality, timely SOX/ICFR control testing, scoping and reporting, ensuring compliance, consistency, and transparency across relevant internal control frameworks. The role provides oversight to support effective governance and regulatory assurance. The role is key to drive the strategic vision of a SOX / ICFR regulatory framework which is efficient and effective with advanced technology solutions and data insights.

KEY ACTIVITIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead global SOX/ICFR compliance programs end-to-end from scoping, planning, execution, performance monitoring, and reporting of IBM/SOX control testing across entities, processes, and markets.

  • Oversee timely delivery of testing milestones globally, managing dependencies, risks, and capacity across teams and/or service providers and technology involved. Ensure testing quality, consistency, and adherence to SOX, internal control standards, testing methodology, and regulatory expectations.

  • Accountable for the review and challenge of control design and operating effectiveness assessments across the environment, ensuring accurate identification, grading, and documentation of deficiencies. Accountable to ensure that open risks and exposures are mitigated for the year end certification and remediated promptly. This will require strong stakeholder management across different functions and leadership roles.

  • Drive clear, accurate, and insightful reporting of testing results, themes, and trends to senior management, Audit Committee, and key stakeholders.

  • Leading and alignment on internal control conclusions with senior leaders / global process owners, Compliance, Internal Audit, External Auditors, and other risk teams to resolve issues, align expectations, and support audit outcomes.

  • Monitor deficiency remediation progress, validate closure evidence, and ensure sustainable fixes are embedded for major control deficiencies.

  • Identify and implement process improvements, automation, and standardisation to enhance testing efficiency, quality, and transparency. Responsible for driving a solution minded focus for all controls monitoring programs and leveraging digital solutions (e.g. use of Agentic AI) and proposing enhancements and continuous improvements to current Agentic AI solutions and supporting implementation. Drive strategic vision for cost of compliance at an enterprise level from a testing performance and controls monitoring perspective (IBM), as well as driving external and internal audit reliance program.

  • Maintain oversight of risk indicators, recurring issues, and emerging risks, escalating concerns appropriately.

  • Responsible for SOX governance activities, including methodology updates, training, and readiness for regulatory or external audit reviews.

  • Accountable for providing direction to team members (including members located in Finance hubs) on process excellence, driving enhanced use of technology and continuous improvement in delivery and reporting the SOX / ICFR compliance programs for GSK

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Chartered Accountant or equivalent

Relevant 15 years of experience required
