Job Description

The Associate Director Clinical Value Analysis exists to lead enterprise-wide initiatives that optimize clinical outcomes while reducing costs and unnecessary product variation across Boston Medical Center (BMC). Operating under limited supervision from the Director Strategic Sourcing, this role exercises strategic leadership and operational oversight to drive standardization, utilization management, and evidence-based product selection. The job influences organization-wide procurement decisions by partnering with clinical leaders to establish data-driven frameworks that align supply chain activities with corporate quality, safety, and financial objectives. This role provides direct supervision, mentoring, and professional development to a team of specialized value analysis personnel to ensure departmental and institutional goals are achieved.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

  • Leads, mentors, and develops the clinical value analysis team members while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement to ensure effective execution of departmental objectives.
  • Builds and sustains a clinician-led, data-driven decision-making culture across the enterprise by partnering with medical staff on quality improvement initiatives involving vendor goods and services.
  • Oversees the evaluation of medical products using evidence-based methodologies and ensures necessary clinical education is completed prior to product trials or permanent adoption.
  • Analyzes clinical utilization patterns using procurement and healthcare data systems to identify trends and recommend systemic changes that reduce unwarranted clinical variation.
  • Facilitates consensus among diverse clinical stakeholders, utilizing negotiation and collaboration strategies to resolve barriers to product evaluation, standardization, and implementation.
  • Identifies optimization opportunities for nursing and bedside care product standardization by matching product clinical profiles with healthcare delivery needs.
  • Supports the implementation of newly approved medical technologies and products by executing organizational change management efforts and collaborating with supply chain functional teams.
  • Ensures all product selection decisions align strictly with patient safety requirements, regulatory standards, and industry best practices while maintaining robust documentation and audit trails.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 7 years of experience in healthcare supply chain, procurement, or roles with oversight of clinical supply utilization, including at least 3 years of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS PREFERRED:

  • Association of Healthcare Value Analysis Professionals (AHVAP) certification, Institute for Supply Management Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) certification, or a similar professional supply chain certification is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSAs):

  • Proficiency in materials management, purchasing, contracting, and vendor management principles, practices, and processes within a healthcare environment.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology and clinical applications relevant to hospital operations and supply chain functions.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills to evaluate utilization datasets, develop summary metrics, and formulate data-driven procurement recommendations.
  • Ability to achieve institutional outcomes through influence, negotiation, and delegation while working alongside diverse clinical and administrative stakeholders.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with vendors, physicians, nurses, and internal supply chain teams.
  • Written and verbal communication skills to prepare documentation, formal business reports, and multi-stakeholder correspondence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Forms, to execute data analysis, operational reporting, and project tracking.

Compensation Range:

$97,500.00- $141,500.00

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, skills, and certifications/licensures as they directly relate to position requirements; as well as business/organizational needs, internal equity, and market-competitiveness.
