The Career Services Office at Boston College Law School is seeking a new Assistant/Associate Director to join our dynamic, fast-paced office. The CSO advises and educates J.D. students and alumni on internships and career options in the private and public sectors for legal or legal-related positions, fellowships, judicial clerkships, and alternative careers. In addition to advising, this role is also part of our advising team that considers strategy and provides educational programming and materials to support professional development and the hiring process for all students.
Advising:
-Provide individual and group career advising to all levels of law students and alumni in both the private and public sectors including short-term and post-graduate programs and placements.
-Edit student application materials and conduct mock interviews as needed.
-Aid students in understanding the legal market and in aligning opportunities with potential career paths.
-Contribute to the department’s data-driven operations and track, record and report on key metrics and analytics.
-Contribute to the success of all Career Services events, programs and projects.
Training:
-Create, organize, promote, facilitate and lead training programs, including in person and virtual, designed to educate students and alumni about career options, application materials, interview preparation and skills, the job search process and techniques and other related professional/soft skills.
-Develop and keep current related training materials and other career resources online in a user friendly manner, easily accessible for students/recent graduates/alumni.
-Collaborate with student, alumni and other groups to present programs together to improve the overall substance and experience of the program, and the strength of the office’s relationships.
Outreach & Department Operations:
-Supports these efforts as needed.
Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and full-time equivalent hiring ranges:
J.D. required from an accredited law school.

-Interest in staying current with developments in the legal industry and other industries where graduates have placement potential, and in the best practices for career services.
-Strong knowledge of best practices, techniques and standards for career counseling, coaching, advising and effective job search techniques preferred (required for Associate Director).
Assistant Director: Minimum of two years of legal experience as a practicing attorney required, with experience in professional career counseling, legal recruiting, or legal marketing preferred.
Associate Director: Minimum of two years of legal experience as a practicing attorney required. Minimum of three years of career counseling experience or equivalent work supporting law students.
Must have flexibility to work hours outside of normal business hours occasionally to meet office needs. Occasional travel possible. Work is conducted in a professional office setting. Work is conducted primarily in a stationary position and involves moving, ascending/descending, conveying information, and carrying, lifting items of medium weight and operation of a keyboard.
