BioInsight is Illumina’s newest business unit, purpose-built to deliver deeper biological insights from large-scale multiomic data. By uniting Illumina’s world-class sequencing capabilities, enterprise-ready software, and AI innovation – including data assets such as the Alliance for Genomic Discovery™ and Illumina Billion Cell Atlas – BioInsight works collaboratively with pharma and biotech partners to accelerate multiomics and AI driven drug discovery. Illumina is seeking a candidate for an Associate Director, Business Development role within the BioInsight Business Unit. The candidate should have experience originating, structuring, and closing strategic partnerships with pharma and biotech companies and have established relationships to drive deal funnel activity.
This role requires scientific fluency across the drug discovery continuum and the commercial acumen to translate that fluency into partnerships that create durable value for both sides.
The role spans the full deal lifecycle, from partnership conception and sourcing through execution, and involves close collaboration with Illumina’s multidisciplinary R&D team of experimental, computational, and AI/ML scientists.

The estimated base salary range for the Associate Director, Business Development, BioInsight – AI, Multiomics & Drug Discovery role based in the United States of America is: $170,600 - $255,800. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. The range reflects long‑term growth in the role. Most candidates are hired between the minimum and middle of the range. Placement depends on experience, skills, location, and internal equity. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
