Job Description

Want to bring ideas to life?

Aurecon is delivering some of the most technically demanding digital infrastructure projects in the region, partnering with hyperscale and enterprise clients to shape the next generation of data centre facilities.

As global demand for cloud, AI and digital services accelerates, we are expanding our Digital Infrastructure practice and looking for experienced Design Managers to lead the design and coordination of mission-critical facilities

How will your ideas contribute to shaping what’s next?

As a Data Centre Design Manager, you will play a key leadership role within Aurecon’s growing Digital Infrastructure practice, delivering mission-critical facilities for leading global and regional operators. You will lead multidisciplinary design teams through complex data centre projects (from early configuration and concept design through to detailed engineering and delivery) ensuring integrated, resilient and high-performance outcomes. Unlike many consulting roles, Aurecon works closely with clients early in the project lifecycle, influencing design strategy, technical standards and delivery approaches from the outset.

Why join our Digital Infrastructure team?

  • Work on hyperscale and enterprise data centre developments
  • Influence projects from concept through delivery
  • Collaborate with global technology clients
  • Help shape next-generation digital infrastructure

Here are the key things you will do to ‘bring ideas to life’:

Design Leadership

  • Lead the design and technical coordination of complex mission-critical data centre facilities across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Guide configuration, resilience strategy and system integration across electrical, mechanical, ICT and architectural systems.

Technical Delivery

  • Oversee development and review of concept designs, detailed engineering and technical documentation.
  • Ensure designs meet stringent requirements for reliability, redundancy, efficiency and constructability.

Team & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams across concurrent projects.
  • Facilitate design workshops, technical reviews and risk assessments.

Client Interface

  • Act as a trusted technical partner to clients, supporting strategic design decisions and project delivery.

Practice Growth

  • Support the continued growth of Aurecon’s Digital Infrastructure capability through pursuits, innovation and knowledge sharing.

What we’re looking for:

  • Degree qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Building Services, Architectural Engineering or a related field.
  • 10+ years’ experience delivering mission-critical facilities, ideally including hyperscale or enterprise data centres.
  • Strong technical understanding of mission-critical infrastructure systems, including:
    • High-density electrical distribution
    • Cooling systems and thermal management
    • Redundancy and resilience architectures (N+1, 2N etc.)
    • ICT and network infrastructure
    • Integrated building services systems
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams on technically complex projects.
  • Strong capability in reviewing, developing and delivering highquality technical designs and data centre configurations.
  • Experience coordinating complex multidisciplinary teams across large-scale technical projects
  • Experience in client side or large consulting environments within leading engineering consultancies, data centre developers, contractors or specialist mission-critical design firms.
  • High-level communication and relationship building skills, with the ability to partner effectively with senior stakeholders.
  • A collaborative, solutions‑focused approach and a strong drive for technical excellence and innovation.
  • Eligibility to obtain an Australian Defence Baseline Security Clearance is desirable.

How will your future be shaped by us?

At Aurecon you’ll work onindustry-leading digital infrastructure projects, alongside specialists in mission-critical engineering, digital design and sustainable infrastructure. We support your growth through technical leadership pathways, industry collaboration and opportunities to shape emerging technologies across the Digital Infrastructure sector. You’ll also benefit from flexible working arrangements, inclusive workplace initiatives and wellbeing programs that support you both professionally and personally
