The European Capital Solutions team advises private equity, corporate and public clients on arranging financing in the public, and private capital markets through the issuance of debt, equity, or hybrid securities. The team, comprising over 70 professionals, is rapidly growing and advising clients on the origination, structuring, and execution of private and public debt financings across numerous industries.

Scope

The Debt Capital Solutions team at Houlihan Lokey is looking to add an Associate in its Sponsor Finance team in the Frankfurt office with a focus on financings for private equity-backed companies, primarily across the DACH region.

Responsibilities

  • Lead selected transaction workstreams and support the overall day to day execution of financing advisory mandates (e.g. acquisition financings, refinancing, lender education)
  • Coordinating and leading internal deal teams on the preparation of confidential information memoranda, management presentations, marketing materials, and other client deliverables
  • Support the analysis and negotiation of financing terms and documentation, and help formulate recommendations for clients
  • Prepare, analyse, and present historical and projected financial models in support of ongoing engagements
  • Assist in originating new client engagements for the Capital Solutions team across various jurisdictions, industries, and situations
  • Support relationship coverage of active debt investors, including banks, credit funds, and other alternative asset managers
  • Coordinate third‑party workstreams with other professional advisors and perform business due diligence
  • Mentor and support junior analysts

Basic Qualifications/Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong academic track record
  • 3-4 years of experience within Debt Advisory, Leveraged or Structured Finance, or other similar roles within an Investment Bank or Advisory firm
  • A fundamental understanding of financial valuation methodologies, and applications
  • Advanced financial modelling and analytical abilities; strong LBO and DCF modelling skills
  • Understanding of financial statements analysis with the ability to work through key assumptions, implicit caveats, and limitations
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative research skills
  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office tool suit, in particular Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in German and English are essential
  • Strong work ethic, organizational skills, ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and to multitask is crucial to meet designated timelines
